not an exciting game by either team.

looks like NW will enter the 4th up 10-3. Watching Stanford is like a review of former ND recruiting targets.

Stanford stubbornly sticking to that 1980's 2 Back Offense is killing their recruiting. They have ZERO fast twitch explosive athletes on offense. They were getting athletes who wanted to play with Luck. But now there's no way a kid is going to choose Stanford, when he could play for the Spread Offenses at Oregon, UCLA, or Arizona.

Stanford will kick FG
13-6

NW needs 1 first down and Stanford will get the ball back probably with 4 minutes left for 1 more drive.
But 2 first downs wins this.

Stanford is giving Stanford fits.
A loss would have a significant negative impact on ND's margin for error.
Gameday needs an overhaul. Desmond Howard picks Stanford to win it all? Really? Corso is a stone cold bafoon at this point. Not a decent analyst who sometimes plays a bafoon. Just clueless and embarrassing. Herbstreet and Rece Davis need help. Did I mention DH picked the Cardinal to win it all?

Wait... Desmond said Stanford would win it all? Does he even pay attention to recruiting?

NW hiked the ball with > 15 seconds on the pkay clock 3-4 times on that drive; that could have been costly!
FG seals it for NW.

SOS takes a hit!

in fairness to Desmond, Mike Golic said the other day on Mike & Mike that Stanford was 1 of his 4 picks to make the playoffs. I just looked around in my car the "WTH?"

Down goes the Tree. But don't worry, Stanford will be a different team when ND rolls into Pal Alto in November.

Ha !! Ha !! Ha !! There goes Kevin Hogans Darkhorse Heisman run !! It was great while it lasted !!

Ha!! Ha !! Ha !! The Mr. Mediocrity award is his to lose !!! Ha !! Ha !! Ha!!
Early in the game the analyst was saying what a good passer Hogan is. I think he should try throwing with his left hand. Terrible QB.
Fitzgerald always gets those kids to play hard.

Didn't watch the game but hard to understand Hogan's performance. He struggled with dealing with a death in his family early last year (father I think), but had a GREAT last four games. As we have repeatedly said on this board, the QB needs talent around him to look good, and that starts with a solid OL, a good reliable RB, and some receivers who run precise routes and who gain separation. Were any of these present in this game for Stanford?

The receivers dropped a few perfectly thrown balls.

some time ago, DC's figured out that Hogan cannot go deep - he lacks arm strength. Today hecseemed to lack the desire to run as he had in padt seasons. Stanfords offense will be pretty much that way with Hogan.

Perse, I saw some highlights or lowlights of the game this evening, and you are right. His arm strength looks terrible, and his throwing motion looked really awkward, almost side arm on occasion. Doesn't look like the same QB of his freshman year or late last year, and makes me wonder if he has some serious arm issues.

Wow with Hogan being such a bad QB you have to really look at the state of our program if ND loses later this year. Shaw called a bad game as well - maybe because Sanford is gone?
