I say Notre Dame 28 Boston College 16. I miss the angry yelling at players Kelly. Now he has a blank stare on his face like he is all Xanaxed out. Elko is the spirit of the Irish !
ND 27Although your post had an element of humour to it, I actually very much miss the tyrant Brian Kelly. His guys played hard and were attentive to that Brian Kelly. There was a sense of toughness and accountability that started with the HC and manifested itself down the roster. When Kelly lost that edge (the one that took his team to the title game) his team lost their toughness.
I'm firmly of the belief that the higher ups at ND basically warned Kelly to calm down and play nice because ESPN and their hatred for ND (because NBC has their tv rights) were promoting Kelly's sideline demeanor negatively and making national news of it, while coaches like Nick Saban, Will Muschamp, Urban Meyer, Gary Patterson etc, etc could go ballistic and nothing was said of it. I think Kelly was told to play nice because as we all know, at Notre Dame image trumps all else, including on field success.
The best coaches I'd ever been around were complete tyrants, especially on game day. It's the easiest way to keep a team sharp, especially on weeks where the competition is lacking. If you have your team by the balls, locked in and on that line where fear and discipline meet, it's easier to keep them engaged. I'm not saying that's the only way, but I think you just hurt the team when you force a coach to be somebody He's not.
JMO.
Way to go out on a limb there...BK said at his Georgia post game presser that the loss will not snowball. Of course he also said that he will use multiple RBs each week. Since there will be no snowball effect , ND wins. The score is anybody's guess.

Then you don't recall Holtz grabbing Huntley Bakich by the facemask and dragging him off the field on national TV?Ara Parseghian , Lou Holtz and even Dan Devine weren't tyrants. I never saw any of them " go off" like some of these coaches today. Now , I'm not saying they didn't get mad or yell at times. I'm sure they did. For the most part they were always in control during games. My belief is that the way you practice is the way you play. The game is the end result. Maybe Kelly needs to intensify the practices. Years ago I remember when Buddy Ryan coached the Philadelphia Eagles. His practices were so intense, at times fights broke out especially during training camp. Those Eagle teams were nasty and mean. No defense I can ever remember played with a nastiness like that team. I only use this as an example. I'm not saying ND practices should get to that level. However, there is nothing wrong with pushing the right buttons to get the players to " fight" it out in practice. Do that enough and they will consistently field a tough hard nosed team. JMO.

The one thing I always stood up for with Kelly. Sheesh we could take a severe verbal punishment in freaking high school. Get some fire!I say Notre Dame 28 Boston College 16. Wow. What a surprise. The greatest coaches of all time...........Bobby Bowden, Joe Paterno and Bear Bryant were not tyrants on the field on game day. That said, they were darned tough in practices.
The most stoic and emotionless football coach of all time though had to be Tom Landry!
Earlier this summer I predicted that ND's most unexpected loss would be to BC. So I'll stick to that prediction noting that it will take a miracle!
ND 30, BC 31. (with Michael Walker running a kick off back for the final TD)
Stick around. You might learn something.Way to go out on a limb there...
