Notre Dame 3.0 - Over North Carolina State

Only 3? LV must be expecting a 52-49 game.

With our D who blames them?

Well, I was going to compare NDs numbers with that of NCST but it would be impossible. The NCST numbers are really skewed. Yes, their national rankings look pretty impressive defensively and offensively, but, they have played William&Mary, East Carolina, Old Dominion, and Wake Forest. It's hard to get a handle on how good State actually is with that early schedule. No matter, if the Irish defense doesn't get remarkably better , and fast, then ND will be looking at the backside of a giant "L".

Agreed! However, Mich State played no-one and made us look bad. IMO every week Kelly is auditioning to stay. If the D gets a little better next week as IIO says and we move the ball like we do ; We will have another nail biter in Raleigh and a 3-8 point win

really hope our irish can really run the ball well this weekend because if all that rain from that hurricane hitting the coastal area moves north into the Carolinas then our irish could be playing in a massive rainstorm like they did at Clemson last year

NC State beat Wake who beat Indiana who beat MSU. I expect the ND defense to make more improvement in wk 2 post-BVG era and we win a close one on the road.

I was at the Clemson game, will be at the game in Raleigh this weekend. What is it with me and hurricanes?

Wake also beat Duke. But I agree that we'll improve on defense, and pull this one out.

the defense showed some improvements in the second half of the cuse game and if they can continue to make small improvements each week under Hudson and his and Kelly's scaled down playbook then they could finish the year with at least 9 wins which would be good considering how they started the year

Striking difference between the two halves. There's an article on Rivals that breaks a lot of that down. For the game we held Cuse to a 20% 3rd down conversion rate, half of the 41% we had been at for the first four games.

well the second half showed twalsh that if you run a simple defense that allows the kids to run around and just make plays while not having to think too much then you'll get good results like you saw in the second half. I think in BVG you saw a guy with too big of a playbook trying to run nfl type stuff that shouldn't be run with 18,19 yr old kids.
