I spoke with 2025 tight end target Nate Roberts following his visit last weekend. It was his first trip to Notre Dame since landing an offer on ND’s annual Pot of Gold Day recruiting event, March 17.
Roberts made it clear where he stands on the Irish and their history of developing tight ends.
“I think they are Tight End U,” Roberts told Inside ND Sports. “The tight end culture at Notre Dame is something else. I just love what they do with the tight ends and their offense, and I think I fit really well.”
The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Notre Dame target is a four-star recruit and ranked by Rivals as the No. 5 tight end in the 2025 recruiting class. Roberts hauled in 33 receptions, 705 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns for Washington (Okla.) High in 2022.
Roberts said he enjoyed head coach Marcus Freeman's speech to the Irish in their team meeting Saturday morning. He also spent time learning what offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Gerad Parker expects out of the tight end in his offensive scheme.
Roberts holds 19 offers including Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Penn State. He plans to visit with Parker and special teams coach Marty Biagi at his school sometime this spring. He is scheduling a trip to return to Notre Dame June 4 for camp.
“After that, we're going to see how I feel about Notre Dame and just go on from there,” Roberts said. “But I definitely want to get back up to South Bend as quickly as possible I'm in love with South Bend.”
