Northwestern player exodus

So do we see a mass exodus to transfer portal following the firing of Fitzgerald and the scrutiny of the team culture. This isn’t just a coaching or booster issue this is also a broken team culture. I’d expect rats on a sinking ship. Interim head coach just joined the program. Who is going to hold that thing together?

I'd have to place a lot of value on a Northwestern degree. It's one of the most respected colleges in the country. Imagine the same thing happened at ND. I would think the value of a ND degree would cause most players at both schools to hang around and get the highly valued degree. Just my two cents .....

Where are a bunch of garbage 1-11 players going to go? Ferris State? NW is about the degree not the 4-20 record in football the last two years.

Maybe some grad transfers but the truth is there aren't a bunch of in demand guys on the roster.

There will be a very low number of transfer portal entries, maybe some 1st year students. The upper classmen have already signed housing leases and have received their stipends. There is nowhere to go. The time has passed and they are screwed unfortunately.

This program will be a total dumpster fire for the next head coach and staff. It's not Penn State by a country mile. However, while the transgressions are not quite at PSU's level...since children are not involved....it is bad enough. I would not be surprised if NW cancels the next season as a self-punishment deal...while looking to fumigate the place as the next coaching search is underway. As primarily an academic institution.....I do expect NW to treat themselves with some distinction from the routine punishments we normally see.

If you can transfer to Stanford or Duke and play right away, some may do so.

"may have"? What if you are wrong? The guilty should be prosecuted.....but "guilt by name recognition" should not happen. OTOH.......its a mess for all concerned.

Previous AD separated after burying a sexual assault claim made by cheerleader. Two lawsuits filed naming coach, AD and president as defendants. Dozens of players from multiple years that didn’t play together all coming forward in multiple suits; 3 separate and distinct cases of hushing serious complaints … this one will get uglier, way uglier

It’s called jumping on the bandwagon and hoping for a big payday !

Let them get all of the facts before drawing any conclusions
