The No. 1 Irish women's basketball team (3-0) will play each of the next three days at the 8-team Vancouver Showcase, beginning today at 3 p.m. versus Gonzaga (4-0). If victorious, the Irish will clash with the winner of the Drake/Rutgers matchup in Friday's semifinal round at 9 p.m.

The championship game will occur at 8 p.m. Saturday night — the same time when another Irish team continues its own trek to No. 1 — versus either No. 8 Oregon State or No. 10 South Carolina in the title game.

Still not expecting to Marina Mabrey (left quadriceps) to be ready yet. Saw her at practice earlier in the week shooting around in shorts this time instead of sweats, but what I had originally heard at the start of the month was she might sit out all of November and they will not rush her back until she is absolutely 100 percent good to go.

In the meantime, freshman Jordan Nixon will continue to start at point guard, while sophomore Danielle Patterson and freshman Abby Prohaska were excellent off the bench in the 101-77 win at DePaul last Saturday. Sophomore Mikayla Vaughn could see more action this week in a three games in three days format, and Muffet McGraw said she is expecting freshman guard Katlyn Gilbert to become much more of a factor after a good week of practice.
