I know Shumate was ejected for targeting but why was Nicky Barati out there? I think REDFIELD and FARLEY are the safeties against PITT and LUKE and RUSSELL are the corners. Really no reason for Barati to see the field. Worst case move Turner or someone else to safety.

Barati wasn't lost GD. He was in the right place. His problem is he is afraid to tackle with his shoulder, thus the grab and miss with the hands. After two shoulder injuries and surgeries, the man is mentally unable to make the hits. You are right. He shouldn't have been out there.

He just didn't look prepared. That was brutal. At least he forced him back inside, but there was no one else there. It was a well designed play and ND played it well enough except for the waving arm tackle. He wraps him up, he's the hero.

Should not have had to be in the game - see shumate penalty which was a farce .

Thank God it didn't cost us the game -- btw Nick was a long way from wrapping him up . He barely touched the guy as Nicks jock was in the second level

Agree - open field one on one tackles vs. a good RB is not always easy - he was in for 2 plays and was cold - the ejection of ''shumate was a farce"- never should of been ejected. he got there in plenty of time - just over ran it - didn't break down either.

Echo. Missed tackle ? No . Their is no depth at that position all year long . Injuries to the cali kid may have hurt but this position has been a recruiting nightmare. The fact that Baratti is even out there after 2 surgeries is indicative that the safety position is pathetic. Shumate is out and this guy is best they can put on the field ? BK already said that Farley and Redfield will start this week. Who else even plays safety ? M Williams a Frosh ? so what if he can play play him. Move Coleman to safety . Do something to provide some open field tackling ability back there.
