Who do you want? Do you want to go back to Adidas? My thoughts are do a deal for clothing and shoe deal separately. Make the shoe deal non-exclusive so the athletes can sign their own shoe deal with whatever company they want. Instant big time NIL advantage for the Irish. But, if it’s Nike will you wear a sports bra like Dylan? Do you want Jump Man? Do you like UA? Is there an option not listed?

It sounds like UA is out. They didn't even bother to negotiate with ND. I've read Adidas is unlikely. I wouldn't mind going old school and seeing ND use Champion. However, for NIL and recruiting purposes I think ND should go with Nike. Yes, I'm well aware of Nike's shady practices. But they are the top and most popular brand.

One thing is for certain at Notre Dame the players will have no input on the situation
The players basically hired Freeman. ND likely won’t let kids make money on shoes unless they get a cut of the pay though. Jack needs to remain the highest paid yet most underachieving AD in America.

Sweatshops and male sports bras. Should be a hell no to an educated person.

UA is bailing on the college sports team market, which is why ND will be looking elsewhere.

There is a long and interesting article on The Athletic site about the situation ND now finds itself in. For those of you who have a subscription to The Athletic, it is an interesting read. One of the interesting things it discussed was allowing football players to do their own shoe deals, much like is done in the NBA right now. With the ND brand still as strong as it is, that might be an interesting way to attract recruits with NIL money, instead of having the school-attached collectives ponying up that money. Swarbrick is a fan of NIL endorsement deals, but he isn't very fond of the collectives, so maybe that is an option he will look at seriously. Could be a Win-Win for ND, not just in football, but in other sports as well.

Aside from Nike and Adidas, there is some discussion in the article about ND going with an upstart company, such as Lululemon. I am an old fart, so that name isn't familiar to me for athletic apparel, but maybe that is a brand more familiar to the younger set.

Are you serious? I have been making jokes about Lulu for a while. It would be hilarious if they did. Very expensive and high quality brand. We’d be the first for sure.

You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about !

Notre Dame, the institution, is far more important than any one player or group of players !

Think of how chaotic to college football allowing individual players the opportunity to do their own shoe deals would be in combination with the new transfer rule .

NIL in combination with unfettered transferring will further taint and harm college football

That has nothing to do with players picking the coach. Nothing.

More uneducated drivel of biblical proportion.
You’re the type of guy that likes when people with more power than you tell you what to think, say, feel, and do. We know that. You aren’t capable of fathoming things any other way.

We're not doing this here.

Seems to me that you clearly don't understand the parameters of the Athletic Director position at a major university. If Swarbrick became a " free agent " tomorrow he could make way more money than he does now. His level of influence in college athletics is second to only Greg Sankey. I for one am thankful to Jack for staying loyal to his alma mater when he could easily be anywhere else.

The only ones left buying UA are 30-something golf bros. The brand has no appeal anymore. Nike is on trend, champion is very popular again.

I have been disappointed in the ND apparel with both Adidas and UA over the years. From a fan perspective I think Nike makes the most sense. By far the best options and it’s my opinion it would assist in recruiting.

The sweat shops of old and poverty wages isn’t just a Nike issue. Adidas as well. I believe both have turned the corner for the better there according to the Fashion Transparency Index. If Nike being “woke” is your issue, good luck finding any consumer brand in 2023 that fits your political agenda.

I know Nike is selling that “The greatest storytellers in sports should be telling the greatest college football story” as their pitch to ND. Hard to argue that point due to their marketing being head and shoulders above the rest.

Whoever we go with, I hope our home pants get a revamp.

Go Irish!

From what I’m reading on other forums and articles, it’s going to be Nike/Jumpman.

Most likely won't happen, but Sluggo would love to see a deal struck with an American manufacturer so that six year olds in some Malaysian sweat-shop aren't slapping the interlocking ND on any merchandise.
There aren’t any. But Nike is scum. There are more admirable companies.

Champion? Might as well go with Sketchers, woof.

Nike is, was, and will always be the right move here for Notre Dame.

What other companies make athletic apparel? Nike, UA, adidas…? Does Champion still make football jerseys, etc?

I’d vote for Nike and let’s go.

Does anyone know if the label patch has anything to do with the actual factory where it was made? Or rather if that is true all the time?

For example I think the shaped and partially-meshed UA running shirt is distinctive and unique to that brand. But I don't know if that applies to a normal pair of shorts.

Adidas or Jordan.

Adidas is the cleanest logo out there and Jordan is the GOAT - the epitome of excellence and effort. Logo is clean and has transcended beyond basketball. Both make excellent products from head to toe.
