Great win for them tonight. That program has been through hell and back. I'm 30 years old and started understanding/watching football back in the Davie days. Can barely remember Holtz coaching. Never seen ND win a game like PSU did tonight. And it ain't gonna happen this year. When will ND truly return to glory???

Careful with the envy type....

Penn State is doing better than ND this season, but their program is way behind Notre Dame. The Nitts are not good. They lost to Pitt and it wasn't in any way a fluke.

Missed the point.

Where is our signature win?

We don't have one.

You can speculate all day about osu being overrated...??? blah blah...

The point. being #2 tonight went into a would up excited crowd...and the home team stepped up and won the game.

No matter how much you want to downplay that ... under Brian Kelly we've no such wins.

ZERO

?: if another 2 years are allowed ND will be done, DONE DONE DONE.

It goes deeper....Between Weis and BK....it appears that Notre Dame simply can't beat tOSU...that is a humbling reality..yet Penn State got it done. That is a psychological defeat as well as a literal one.

You really need to take a step back. You are seeing ghosts. Penn St's win had nothing to do with ND.

I "intensely disliked" joepa at the end.......BUT I have liked Franklin since his days at MD. What I do like about psu is how their guys on defense always play tough football.....and they look like football players too.....ripped. Why do our guys always look like walkons???
psu is a long ways away from being elite......but ND would lose by 50 to osu. Congrats to psu!

Good for Penn State. The "white out" in Happy Valley is awesome. That's what college football is all about -- totally unique home field advantage, and something like ND could never pull off. At ND, we get a "red out" when Nebraska comes to visit, so there's that.

One point that needs to be brought up. It seems teams like Penn State who have similar or less talent than us ,perform a lot better on defense The coaches school the defensive players well and the defense knows their assignments . Watching Ohio State struggle in the first half 12-7, I was impressed with the enthusiasm of the Penn State players .

I think beating #8 Oklahoma on the road in 2012 was Kelly's best win.

Penn State's players and coaches had every intention to win that game...and made sure tOSU's players knew it too.....They left it all on the field. But others would call that "over-achieving" or "a fluke". I don't. They spent it all because they had an objective worth fighting for.

They have a good team IMO. They've improved a lot on defense since the start of the year. For one thing, their pass rush is a lot better than ours. Looking at their schedule, they could end up 10-2 and are still in the hunt for their division.

I was wondering if our defense really performed well in the seasons following 2012 ?

if you read the stats and the play by play, tOSU fans had to know there was disaster on the horizon.
As Bart Simpson would say, 'more things couldn't go wrong if they had planned it that way!'

It was a fluke. This same team lost to Michigan, 49-10.

Don't worry. Irish fans justify selling their tickets then are the first ones to bitch about the stadium atmosphere. You think Nebraska was bad, wait till Georgia comes to town.

ND crowds are unique and special. I've been to one ND home game, several years ago when the Irish beat MI St. I was excited to finally see the Irish in person. When i reached my seat I got into a conversation with the a guy next to me who appeared to be about 70ish. I'm from Memphis TN and it was my first game. He stated he was from South Dakota, and it was his first game. Two guys from completely different parts of the nation finally getting to see "their team". ND is national. Other schools not so much.

Penn State always seems to play OSU tough at home. The Buckeyes barely escaped in 2016. The whiteout is one of the coolest environments in football. This is a young, hungry team coming out of severe scholarship limits. While they don't have the "Dudes" of a Michigan ND or OSU, they are getting better every week and should win 9 games this year. Plus, they have nearly everyone back next season.

Franklin did a spectacular job at Vandy. That of course doesn't guarantee success at PSU, but nobody has accomplished what Franklin did at Vandy.

I recall Purdue being ND's nemesis; no matter how bad PU was it seemed ND had it's troubles vs them. (Brees and LeRoy Keyes eras) Then along came BC.

The white out may be cool, but it isn't all that successful. Nitts are now 6-7 in white out games all time.

I can never be happy for or envy of anything child molestation u does in sports when winning was more important to them than children being raped on campus in sports facilities and joe pa helping cover it up

This has absolutely nothing to do with those things. things...while utmost horrible ...

Have nothing to do with this football game.

So while maybe I wouldn't use the same envious word as the poster....it does piss me off that we see wins like this all the time in college but it just can't seemingly happen with our team.

At some point don't you think Kelly has to win one of those...???

PSU played with a purpose because even with the loss to Pitt and UM they could still win the division. Once ND loses a game, its season is essentially over.

You obviously don't believe in playing for pride.
