Beat BC tonight.

Another weak 4th quarter ... Irish had a 25 point lead and BC cut it down to 11 in the quarter in which ND scored only 6 points.

Westbeld didn't play ... injured? Patberg played major minutes, looks like she's coming along well. "Bigs" really need help.

Same issues: weak defense, turnovers/bad passing, poor free throw shooting. As much as I would like, don't see them turning it around by March. Very average team.

Men's team more exciting to watch this year.

Big time girls fan,but must admit this year's team is the weakest in the last 6-7 years .You can bet McGraw is perplexed and trying .this is an offensive minded team and lots of time, just plain sloppy , and the defense has taken a back seat . In some games this season ND women would go out to a 15 point or so lead ( instead of extending it to 30 or so like ND teams in the past) only to see it evaporate in close games coming down to last 3-5 minutes . With these leads offense gets out of sync .

Defense and rebounding ? Major improvements at this time of the season?

this team doesn't seem to play as well together as a unit other recent irish teams. arike for instance seems to ty to do too much on her own sometimes and not involve her teammates

Noticed that too. Especially on fast breaks, often the "shooter" would be better off passing off to a teammate ... but they just go up and force a shot, often unsucessfully.

Watched North Carolina game 24-21 Irish lead in 1st Quarter then pulled away in 2nd to lead 45-27 . Tar heels could't mount a second half run Pretty much an even second half . .Game ended 77-55 . Nprth Carolina is 1-7 in the ACC. .

Not sure exactly what to take from this game.

Turner looked good, because NC really doesn't have any bigs to match up with her.

ND seems to miss Westbeld (out with ankle injury) ... Nelson really looks bad at times, other times she's ok. So nD really needs to get another big girl soon.

Guard play was ok ... Ogunbowale seems to try to do too much on her own and forces a lot of shots.

Muffet really has to do a lot of "teaching" this year.

Westbeld is not the difference. It is basically the whole team .. You have to admit Allen and Turner are steady . As far as defense ,the guards continually get beat off the dribble . The first 3 buckets by Tarheels were uncontested layups . On offense the passing is not very good .

And so far this year ,UConn is heads above the rest of the other schools ,with Baylor , Mississippi St, South Carolina, Maryland ahead of ND

ND women's team is not "average". Not by a long shot.
They aren't near what we've come to expect, but they are still better than
95% of the other teams out there. We've been spoiled with Final Four runs every year, but let's not lose our minds - they are still a top team.

Westbeld is not a difference maker. I think she's playing because she's an
upperclassman. Playing out of necessity until the pups come along. Having Westbeld
injured will pay dividends down the road. Harsh but true. She's a liability on the floor.

Also heard that "unofficially" Stanford's point guard will transfer to ND next year.
She's supposedly an outstanding player and will fill in nicely for a departing Allen.

In the North Carolima game, we played one good quarter ,the 2nd, and the 1st , 3rd , 4th were about even . We are a very good team but at this time our level of play is below that of Baylor, Mississippi State, etc; .one thing I do like is McGraw is sending the guards to help with rebounding ,Turner can't not do it alone .Taller teams will present a problem at NCAA time

Defense and passing have to get better to reach the final 4 . McGraw works hard on those aspects of the game ,just wonder when they will start to pay off.

UNC is really bad this year and we can't take much from this game. they did play better with having patberg in with allen and plus boley played very well with getting more minutes. if they can play this well the rest of the year then they can go really far in the ncaa tourney but their big problem is being consistent game after game

Lili Thompson is the 5'7" point guard ,transferring to ND for her last year of eligibility .she averaged about 12 points a game. . Don't really know the reason she is leaving Stanford.
