Guard Ali Patberg and forward freshman Erin Boley are transferring .Don't know if Ali Patberg's injury in her red shirt freshman had anything to do or she hadn't been able to get more playing time because of Mabrey, Ogunbowale , Young plus we have a very good transfer point guard LIl Thompson from Stanford in 2017-18.

6'2" Erin Boley is a real loss ,A very good outside shooter . Completely guessing , she is again playing behind 6'2 Westbeld next season and ND has two freshmen 6'3 forwards or centers? # 30 th ranked Danielle Patterson and the # 90 player Mikalya Vaughn . Probably expect Patterson to get playing time Patterson is also ranked much higher in ESPN W Hoop Gurls at # 10 in class of 2017. Still Boley is a loss .

Transfers stink -- simply because they are not something a coach can account for totally.

An excellent article on the home page about transfers as a whole -- not only how it affects ND, but college sports overall.

These two ladies are leaving for a reason . I think ever since the tea shirt issue about the police there has been a problem on this team. This program will continue to slip .Just as the university goes further to the left.

Really an asinine post. Even though you haven't a clue why these young ladies are leaving, you make something up so as to justify your own political beliefs.

"These two ladies are leaving for a reason"

Excellent comment Einstein! I am sure that they both simply did not just wake up and say -- "Hey, let's transfer out of here for the hell of it!"

As for the rest of your comment -- as 78 said -- ASSinine (yes, I added an additional S in there!)

It's surprising in a way, but also not surprising.

These girls obviously want to play, and they see the writing on the wall at ND. They're going to see limited minutes again next year, due to players who are assumed to be more talented. Rather than living on the bench at ND, they've opted to go elsewhere for playing time.

Happens everywhere. Hopefully it works out well for the players as well as the Irish program.

When a women's or men's basketball team is loaded with blue chip players sitting on the bench not getting much playing time , can expect transfers It happens all the time and sometimes sitting out a year, they can improve their shooting .

Still don't get the Boley transfer ? # 4 or 5 player in 2016 high school class . She was getting playing time after Turner's injury . Thought she would have a major impact in 2017-18 .

Some major programs in both men and women' basketball have short benches ,only go 8 deep just to keep their top recruits happy.

Another crackpot to add to the ignore list. Get help.

First off it's tee / T, not tea, as in Long Island Ice Tea. I was not a fan of the Lady Irish tee shirt protest. I thought it was misdirected and Jack and Muffet crossed a boundary that should not have been crossed. With that said, the ladies have been very successful, led by a HOF Head Coach. I do not have insider access but I will take a wild guess and say nothing about that shirt incident has affected the program in the here and now. I wouldn't trade our gals and Muffet for anyone.

Mc Graw and Swarbrick may have made a mistake with the T-shirts ..I think it was to please Taya Reimer . Mc Graw went overboard to please Reimer . mcGraw agreed for team to wear the T- shirts . Made Reimer co- captain, also kind of changed the offense to get Reimer more touches . Reimer still unhappy and bolts to Michigan State . From what I see ,seems to be happy there ,

BUT, to equate the transfers of Patberg and Boley to the Reimer situation is dumb . Patberg and Boley left because of playing time . Patberg in particular left because of playing time . Could be she was just not happy at ND ? . Stanford's excellent point guard LIl Thompson will be taking over Lindsay Allen's spot plus ND has 2 top flight point guards committing in the # 9 ranked player 5'9" J. Brown in class of 2018 plus 5'"9 K. Gilbert
ranked # 24 . Boley again to me is a real loss ?

Hope that Turner has a full recovery , but Mc Graw has said that Turner would not play in 2017-18 if she was not 100% , does not want Turner to play and risk further injury .

Just a thought .If Turner has to sit out 2017-18, Boley would have been a major player with Her and Westbeld being the only height at6'2" .Plus I wonder how much of an impact ,incoming 6'3" freshmen #30 ranked Danielle Patterson and # 90 ranked Mikayla Vaughn will have . But we will never know since Boley is transferring . This is all speculation on my part..

Also 6'4" Nelson will be back for a fifth year . More of a role player .really needs to work on her game

Transfers don't affect jack S---. If anything it improves the team.Players do not play well if their not happy.....
