NC is simply a bump in the road. Out of the 7 games remaining at NC is the easiest. I just feel ND will have such momentum going into the SC game that they actually steam roll SC.

NC St. and Wake will be tough. I do expect ND to win those games.

At Miami and at the Trees is what separates us from a legitimate chance at a playoff appearance.

The issue will be SOS. Not many top 20 teams are on the schedule.

SC is hurting, but steam-rolling them? I don’t know who they might get back or further suffer injury losses before the ND contest but they are a top 30 team.

Not many top-20 teams?

USC - currently top-15
Stanford - currently top-30
Miami - currently top-15
NC State - currently top-25
Navy - currently top-30

Trust me, ND's SOS will be fine. It's a long season. The toughest stretch of games is still to come.

Relax.

Think of the teams out there that have Illinois, Rutgers, and Northwestern on their schedule. At some point the B1G has to get hurt by SOS.

This team is not ready for the play off. Win 11 games get a New Years six game against a team they can beat and get a natty next year. That's as optimistic as I get.

All I want to see is continued improvement week to week, keep the injury bug at bay -- and DO NOT play down to anyone.

Let's get through the schedule, see how it played out, then go from there.

Yes USC has had a boat load of injuries the last couple of weeks, we all know how that feels. I'm not sure how many they will have back this week, but If they have any chance to play they will because this is a most win for USC. I can make one prediction though, we will not steam roll USC. Their third string is better than the team we just played.

ND has the best remaining games SOS of anybody in the top-20. The OP needs to do more research before shooting off at the mouth after every game.

ND has an excellent SOS right now and likely it'll still be that way in a month.
Excuse me while I shoot off at the mouth again. MSU, M Ohio, Navy, Wake Forest, NC, Wake, Temple will not finish in the top 25. Stanford, SC, NC ST. will be lucky to finish in the top 15 if ND beats them. Miami will be a good win but the Georgia loss could keep ND out of the playoffs.

You are basing your post off of today! You are basing your post off of if the teams we play do not move down in the polls. Trust me, State, Temple, Ohio, NC, Wake and Navy will not help SOS.

A one loss ND team will not make the playoffs ahead of a one loss B10 champion or a one loss SEC champ. You can throw in a one loss B12 team also.

USNA has been a good team the past few years and are 4-0 right now. But the meat of the schedule is still to come.

Bump.

It helps to be knowledgeable before posting.

Agree. I think our only hope of being in the playoffs is to win out, and to have either NCS or Miami win the ACC and either USC or Stanford win the PAC. I just don’t see getting an invite if four of the five conference champs are 12-1, unless their one loss is to us.

Agree. And if SC and SU finish as 3 loss teams (or worse) and NCS and Miami finish behind Clemson as 2-3 loss teams, Then it comes down to Navy to avoid a second loss (not likely). That leaves ND’s claim to the playoffs as a loss to UGA (playing a Fr. in his 1st start on the road) and UGA may be a 2-3 loss team by season end.
It is difficult to envision the PAC 12 having a 1 loss team by season/ conference playoff end.

I guess that is why fans do not pick the playoff teams.

The assumptions here are interesting............like assuming NCST is a win. At least nobody is referring to them as a "speed bump" any more! My how opinions do change.

And how your predictions and opinions are as credible as the NFL kneelers.

I know many will not believe this but you have a decided coaching advantage over us. Steamroll? Depends on the meaning. I believe it will be ND by 10. Hope I am wrong.

Beach...after watching four complete USC games this year, I tend to agree about coaching and play calling. Thought the WSU game was unbelievable for the lack of adjustments to compensate for playing the second half without three starting offensive linemen.

Do you still think there will be a rematch of Bama and FSU in the natty game? Yes, opinions always change as the college football season progresses week to week. Before snarking about Irish assumptions, maybe you should take a long look in the mirror, Mr. Nole Fan.

SC’s problems are throughout the staff. With exception of DMc it is a sub standard staff.
I know the record does not indicate that, but SC now wins with overwhelming talent.
SC has many of the issues ND had in 15, 16. The problems start with S&C and follow through with the HC.
Even the current SC recruiting is questionable.
The real question is how far your current AD lets the program sink.

ND will likely beat a weak n wounded SC squad by 14-20 the way things look now.

You have a good eye. Could not agree more.

Im interested to see the ramnifications of Utah the week before. That will be the most physical opponent for USC
