ND found yet another way to break my heart on a saturday!
Good thing about basketball is it is all preseason until conference play.
Ferrell is fun to watch. He ran out of steam in the second half though.
Really hope the Irish can win vs the Boil-makers!

our irish had a lead for 31 minutes without one of the top two scorers on the team in beachem doing much scoring wise and yet they still almost beat top ranked nova. they also didn't shoot as well from three point range. if beachem shows up and they play like they did in the first half against nova then they'll win a close game. if they are on shooting wise and purdue is off a little I can then see it being a blowout. the centers for purdue could give our irish a tough time inside though as that will be the matchup that favors boilermakers
I think Swanigan will be too much for ND to handle. VJ doesn't show up in big games. Purdue wins this one.
I think we beat Purdue. Our players are very smart. Swanigan will score his points but we will too. I predict we win by 5 or more.

Non-conference...... really it doesn't matter if you lose.
Hell, even conference play is not a big deal.... most all teams will make the conference tourney and any team worth anything will make the big tournament.
These games are basically preseason.
In the grand scheme... yes. Sure they would of been ranked higher this week.... but what does being ranked 15 compared to 23rd (or whatever they are now) really matter in the middle of December?
Sure, it looks good come seeding time, but my point is any team worth a damn will make the tournament. IU lost to Ft. Wayne..... think their season is over?
You don't think the NCAA selection committee in early March aren't going to look at non conference games and good wins vs bad loses? Jay Bilas is always talking about who you play and these early season matchups. I think the committee is going to look at, for example, the Indiana lose to Fort Wayne and may just knock them down a line or 2.
Like I said, it will matter a bit during seeding. You are missing my point..... ND could still go and win the ACC regular season or tourney and this game will be an afterthought.
And if we go 9-9 in the conference and bow out of the ACC tourney after one win, this game could be epically important.
If that is the Case then we don't need to go to the tournament and win maybe one game anyway....
You maybe right, however I don't believe that to be true. When it comes selection time watch how all the "talking heads" will be talking about "who so and so beat" and "good loses and bad loses in the non conference." You may or may not like Jay Bilas (I personally think he is great), but he is always talking about the non conference and how important those games are. Why do you think there are so many early season match ups between high profile teams. It's because, accordingly to Bilas, it matters in March. 20 years ago you would have never seen a #1 North Carolina play a #5 Michigan State, now you do. So yes I think beating a high ranked Purdue team is very important to ND's cause.

I read that the Crossroads classic's 4 teams are all in the top 25. Indiana is 8, Purdue is 15, Butler 18 and ND 21.
Wow. All from the same state. That has to be the best 5 hours for BB fans out there. I think Indiana fans will be the dominant fan base. We could be last.
Indiana dominating the attendance isn't a bad thing for ND. Most all Indiana fans will be rooting for ND to beat Purdue.
That'd probably be the case even if the games were in West Lafayette or South Bend. The Hoosiers do have quite the following.

well us irish and iu fans in Indiana have to stick together and hate the boilermakers. I know several iu fans who root for the irish in football and then iu once basketball starts
It's tough to drop 20 every nite and coach the team as well. We all know that the players coach the team, Brey is "just along for the ride!" Remember: "Coming out of the time-out,it's all Eric!" All this according to one particular moron...
