ND / Texas a night game

This is no surprise, as this is probably the biggest game of week 1. Unless of course, you consider South Dakota St. at Kansas or South Dakota at Kansas St. to be a more important game.

i'd rather play usc at night but I guess you can't go wrong with texas being the night game

Huh? You have Michigan at Utah on Thursday night for one of the first games of the entire season.

Stanford @ Northwestern
Wisky / Alabama @ Dallas
Louisville / Auburn
Arizona St / Texas A&M
BYU @ Nebraska
Ohio State @ VTech

All of those are the same day / weekend as ND - Texas.

Networks want in
Game would be on NBC whether night game or day game.

Jack S. stated a couple of years back that his plan is to schedule one home night game which would eventually turn into two night home games. Don't be surprised to see all home night games very soon.

I think they need to only have games against big teams/important games in that slot. Like for this year:

Texas - Primetime
Georgia Tech - Primetime
UMass - 3:30
Navy - 3:30
USC - Primetime
Wake Forest - 3:30
Boston College - Primetime

2016 would be:

Nevada - 3:30
Michigan State - Primetime
Duke - 3:30
Stanford - 3:30
Miami - Primetime
Army - Primetime
Virginia Tech - Primetime

I have been to both and I actually have decided I prefer the day games. Night games are fun....I have been to both USC night games but the problem is you cannot really go out after. First USC trip was a group of guys and lineups were too long and everyone was exhausted anyways. Some of us may have ended up at the Linebacker...but I really can't remember.

Second night game was with the family....it was chilly so we had dinner / lunch at the Mark and tailgated with friends around campus after and before. Lot's of time to see the sights during the day but I usually come in Friday for those things.

ND plays enough night rode games (basically all of them) so it is nice to have some day home games. I do like this game at night though as up here in Canada Labour day weekend is one of my favorite times to spend outside if the weather is nice...rather than sit inside and watch ND during the day I will look forward to having a few friends over in the evening.

Go Irish!

Yes to going back to the 1:30 kick offs. With a 3 hour drive home I can get back at a decent time.

Just no storm delays.................Go Irish!!!

"1:30 kickoffs. Those were the days."

You got that right Archie! Seriously though, those days are long gone.

I am just thankful for the advent of the DVR -- since I officiate NCAA D III on Saturday afternoons, I do nto get to see the games until night time when I get home.

Love night games. The atmosphere the crowd. The excitement.

And ND does a pretty damn good job with the crowd. All things considered. I wouldn't want every game at night. But I do enjoy seeing 1 or 2 a year

I don't know that there is anything old fashioned or antiquated about playing day games.

For the younger crowd, when did they transition from 1:30 to 3:30 games? Also I have 4 Texas tickets. Looking forward to a great game!

Here comes the old folks routine again. It's the default reply that never gets tired. The creativity on this board is sure lacking when the common issue, off the rack, old folk comeback is still in play.

Night games at ND can't be good for the commuting fans. If you drive from Chicago or Indianapolis or from the East you'd be driving late in the night to get back home or wherever you are staying. I don't believe there are enough hotel rooms in the South Bend area to accommodate folks who would be inconvenienced to drive home or wherever. And besides, the hotels raise their rates and want you to stay more than one night. Gets super expensive. When I go to games I fly into Indianapolis on Friday and stay the night at Kokomo and leave early Saturday morning for ND. After the game I hang around the campus until the traffic has cleared up and then drive back to Kokomo. Except for that reason I really don't care if the games are played at night or during the day. Just my opinion.

As a usher who drives about 3 1/2 hours for games, 1:30 kick offs would be ideal for me. If means getting up a tad bit earlier then normal but I would be getting home at a decent hour. 3:30 kickoffs makes for a long night for us.

I do not mine night games at ND so long as it is only 1 or maybe 2 games a year. If there where 5 or 6 night home games a year, forget about it.

One can argue, no game is bigger in the month of September. ND and Texas are down right now, but they are the two most powerful programs in the country by a long ways. Should be a great game.
