While this is clearly a rebuilding, flawed ND team that will be much better in the future it is not that much of a stretch that ND could end up 4th in the CFP at season's end-
1. Georgia beats Alabama in the SEC title game. Georgia is IN
2. Cincinnati wins out. Cincy is IN.
3. Ohio State wins out and OSU is IN.
4. Oregon loses another game, finishes with 2 losses. DONE
5. Oklahoma loses a game and does not win the Big 12.
6. Wake Forest is not an undefeated ACC champ. DONE
7. ND wins out and finishes 11-1. Only loss would be to the #2 team in the country in Cincy.
Notre Dame would be selected as the 4th team in the CFP and play Georgia in the 1 vs. 4 matchup while Cincy plays Ohio State in the 2 vs. 3 game.
* A 2 loss Alabama team that loses to Georgia and may not have a single win against a top 25 team CANNOT be a CFP team. Even as stupid as the CFP committee is there would no way to justify that based on actual game results. Updated One of the MISS teams will be the ranked win for Bama if they lose to Georgia. Wow, such a great accomplishment for a 2 loss team.
