Really hope ND can flip this kid from Michigan. He fits in perfectly to the type of offense the Irish want to run. He's not a big guy (5'11, 175-180lbs) and he's not overly fast (looks like he run's about 4.60) or flashy, but he's an advanced route runner, very good using double moves, he makes a lot of acrobatic catches on film that make me believe he's sure handed, and he knows how to get off the line and set DB's up on routes in the red zone... He reminds me in so many ways of TJ Jones who was extremely productive for ND during his career and who excelled at route running in the red zone, something every Irish receiver not named Torii Hunter Jr struggled with this year.

Johnson would be a surefire redshirt candidate and may not even play as a sophomore because of the talent ahead of him, but by his junior year I could see him as clutch third option and red zone receiver who can move around and play all three WR positions. The type of kid that doesn't seem to excel at anything measurable, or quantifiable, but the production is there either week...

A receiving haul of...

Demetris Robertson
Javon McKinley
Chase Claypool
Kevin Stepherson
Nate Johnson

Would be a comical bevy of talent influx, made even better by the fact that all 5 are distinctly different receivers who bring different attributes to the table... Here are my projected comparisons for each. Not necessarily in terms of eventual production, but rather skill set. Note that I purposely chose fairly recent players for the sake of comparison.

Demetris Roberstson = Desean Jackson (Cal)
Javon McKinley = Tyler Boyd (Pitt)
Chase Claypool = Kelvin Benjamin (FSU)
Kevin Stepherson= Not sure he'll ever be a major contributor
Nate Johnson= TJ Jones (ND)

This one is pretty simple. Eddie McDoom was an ORE commit who was/is coveted by UM. McDoom just decommitted. Prior to that time, Johnson said he was 110% committed to UM. It now is pretty clear McDoom is flipping to UM. Johnson is waiting to see what McDoom does. If McDoom comes to UM, Johnson likely goes elsewhere. If McDoom goes elsewhere, Johnson stays put.

I heard some scuttlebutt that Nate Johnson has been told by the ND staff that they would like him as a cornerback. They think he has great hips and size to make a good corner.
Anyway it looks like the Irish are going to get him.
Maybe they will try him at receiver first and see where he fits. He might be able to see the field sooner at CB.
I also heard a few posters on other sites that say Chase Claypool would be a stud at linebacker. What say you IIO ?

At what point is the Michigan "Bus" full? Do they just kick some committed kid out the back door to make room?Hmm?
