Ha ! I just caught the ear joke. Did you know I have a scar across my earlobe when My Dad accidentally almost cut it off giving me a haircut during a giants game in 1970? True story.

That's both terrible and hilarious.

My kid and I watched a lot of boxing, including that second Holyfield-Tyson fight. Later, in high school, he was wrestling in the Chicago city semi-final in a match above his weight class. He had the guy beat, but didn't have enough ass behind him to pin the guy. He kept looking at his coach and I for help, and I started yelling "Bite his ear off." He started laughing and almost lost the match. Its been our go to line ever since.

My second varsity wrestling match in 1978 was against Lou Banach in the 177lb weight class. in a tournament. Didn't go so well for me.

No shame in that.

My son got beat on points by a girl his his senior year because: "I didn't know where I could put my hands." That didn't go so well for him.

Crazy. Wrestling is a great sport. The smarter wrestlers are the best ones. Once I started learning moves I got pretty good. Strength can only get you so far.

I played football, basketball, and baseball in high school, and was strong for my size and very quick. First time I wrestled was in a PE class as a senior, taught by a college wrestler who weighed about twenty pounds less than me. He kicked my ass and I was blowing air like an out of shape fat couch potato after about three minutes. Really helped me appreciate the technical aspect of the sport, as well as the incredible conditioning demands. Bodi, probably great prep for marine camp!
