Looks like there's more media restrictions on what can be reported from practice observations.

Here's some I saw reported by NDInsider:
  • No references to plays run or game strategy. This includes describing formation, personnel groups or non-conventional plays.
  • No reporting of which players are practicing with individual units (goal line offense, nickel defense, etc.).
  • Do not report on practice injuries until the team has provided an official update. Access to Brian Kelly [provided] following practice for comments and injury updates.
  • Do not quote, paraphrase or report comments made by coaches or players during practice sessions.
The guidelines also included rules for shooting video of practices. Most notably: “Multiple players, formations, trick plays and other strategic elements should not be shot, shown or described on any platform.”

I used to love supporting the industry/following NDs fall camp. But every year under BK it has gotten worse and worse. The only decent info/nuggets that come out are during BKs press conferences, but even that has gotten to the point where he only answers in coach speak and cliches.

This can't be good for business (sites/media/magazines that send analysts out to south bend to follow/report on the football program).

I like this! There is no need for the media or press to report on this stuff on a daily basis -- the less any early opponent knows right now, the better. The fans may want to know about it, but do not need to know.

I wouldn't be complaining if there was a correlation between football wins and more fall camp access restrictions; but in fact, it's the opposite.

LSU has completely shut the media out of practice. If I were adding bells and whistles, the media wouldn't get anywhere near the team. I would do a press release a week and a major press conference on Thursday before the game. Why advertise your changes?
But ND goes out and consistently under-performs during the season. I don't think it matters all that much. Teams are confident they'll beat ND no matter how much access is granted.

With a new defensive coordinator and offensive coordinator, perhaps this new policy should be given the benefit of the doubt.

Tell us more a out the inverse relationship between wins and more media access:eek:
You need to be spending all your time on tabulating recruiting rankings.

Then maybe the changes are a step in that direction???

Why in the world would any coach allow the media free access to report on their teams activities?? Sure, let them report on and video whatever they want...just so the fans can feel "included" on the goings on. Stupid.

Maybe its just me, but it seems like much of what we hear about what's getting practiced in camps doesn't necessarily show up much on gameday anyway. Like the never ending promise of multiple TE formations . . . seems like we hear about it more than we see actually see it.
