Moderation of free board

Just received a reply from Moderator with concerns regarding the off topic posts. Basically he said screw the free board and we will continue to moderate Rockne's Lounge which keeps the site in business. I was sure to point out the multiple free forums including the off topic one that is set up. It is clear they have 0 intention of moderating or even maintaining a free ND board.

I wish you all well. This place has never been the same since Wax left and the Rivals crew took over and basically does nothing of value.

My point exactly. His response was to direct me to the pay board... why would I have any interest in paying when you cannot display the ability to moderate this board? I get it the pay board pays the bills but I'm sure we could have a volunteer moderate this board. Showing a total disregard for the free board turn me away from the pay board.

I miss wax.

I noticed the same thing. I don't know why some people insist on inflicting their political opinions on the rest of us. This is an ND board. It is my thought that the topics on this board should, with rare exceptions, be focused on the following three:

1. ND football.

2. College football in general.

3. College sports in general, particularly ND's other sports.

I can deal with an occasional NFL or MLB post, but political posts belong elsewhere.

I am sure the Edward Jones ad at the bottom of my screen is paying for something...hits are down here already and will continue to go down....now it is Choice Hotels.....will not be here long if this keeps up. Already spend more time on Domer Domain. For the most part that's been true. But some of the posters involved have taken to peppering unrelated threads with insults arising from their political disagreements. And I'm not taking sides, but you've brought your political animus toward Nocalirish into some recent non-political threads.

You are correct. It is a free board. We may come and go as we please. Bodi is ultimately in charge here. He singlehandedly is responsible for Gitmo staying open and has the keys to the place. It has been a while since he has gone "nuclear" and sent a snowflake packing.

I am thankful for this free board. There are some really good posts here about ND football. And, there are some OT posts that I read and reply. Most threads I do not read because I do not care to even open them up. I sample them in the preview pane and say 'no'.

I think I asked this question before ... why are THEY, or whomever, not interested in moderating this free board, while the PSU free board is moderated by a Tom McAndrew.

I sent Lou Somogyi an email last week because I couldn't get on Under the Dome and I wasn't allowed to sign in. I thought they might have banned me so I sent Lou an email seeking clarification. The mess cleared up later that day. Lou said in his email that Bryan Driskell is our moderator. I always contact Lou whenever I have a concern about the site. I miss Wax too.

I would imagine the free board days are numbered. Other rivals boards have discontinued there free boards and that would be a shame if that does happen.

Christ, everyone that posts here is anonymous. Why would we need another anonymous person to moderate the forum?? By "moderate" don't you mean "...delete unrelated posts so you aren't tempted to read them"?? We really need a moderator for that??

We're all adults here (I would assume). OT posts only cause a ruckus when they get responses. They are literally kept alive by those who complain about them. Don't open or don't respond and those posts will quickly, quickly sink to the bottom of the page where they will eventually disappear.

It's annoying, sure. But demonstrate some simple self-control, don't read them, and the annoyance will soon disappear.

I don't need Wax to help me understand which posts to read and which ones to ignore.

Yup. Berwick was in that role too. I once met up with him at a game. Great guy. I think he went back to school and could no longer afford to devote much time to the board.

You started a thread that was deleted. Most likely you were indeed given a 'timeout'. Refer back to the thread you started about the forum rules. Prior to the start of the season, it behooves all to take lesson and abide by the rules; regardless of differences of opinion. Disagree but do it respectfully.
