I listened to Mike F for years when I was a sales rep in NJ. Hates ND! Badmouthed Holtz all the time and never gave ND any positive press even when they deserved it. If he says ND should do something, I would do the opposite.

Francesca doesn't hate ND. He's a catholic kid from Long Island. He grew up in the business covering some great ND teams. I think he's actually an ND fan.

You guys will be fine btw. Not that you need me to tell you. Kelly has been doing a good job recruiting and if he's not the guy someone else will come into some nice talent.

Wow, they suggested a guy who loathes ND and wouldn't come here for $10 million a year. Maybe they should do a little research.

The university he loves has met his demands, and he works for an awesome AD and very supportive President. Will be interesting to see what he can do when the lakefront football complex is completed. To this point in time, Fitz has hardly been mediocre. Mediocre coaches at NU don't win 10 games in a season or beat teams like Stanford, ND, Nebraska, Iowa, PSU, MSU and Wisconsin. The institutional advantages those programs have over NU are enormous. But he has found a way to beat them.

Correct NDSMC. And he has had other inexcusable losses as well. Fortunately, those with a clear mind and adult objectivity look at the body of work as a whole and wonder how Fitz could win as much as he has against programs where it is so much easier to be successful.

Perhaps the most recent and telling insight into Fitz the coach came from Urban Meyer after this year's NU vs. OSU game in Columbus. A game that was undecided until less than 3 minutes to go. Urban described it as a 4 quarter "chess match" against a superbly coached "constantly adapting" Wildcat team. So the value added factor is there. NU had no business playing OSU for 4 quarters even up, just one or two plays from beating the Buckeyes and Urban in the Shoe.

What could Fitz do with the wealth of institutional advantages ND offers? I don't know. All I know is that he has done more with less than anybody I can think of in a Power 5 conference. And he has done it with great class.
