Notre Dame women’s basketball freshman forward Mikayla Vaughn will miss the remainder of the 2017-18 season after tearing her ACL in her left leg in practice on Tuesday, Nov. 28. As a result of the injury, the Irish are left with eight healthy/active scholarship players.

They already lost All-America post Brianna Turner and backup guard Mychal Johnson to ACL injuries, and Westbeld has basically played on one leg with her ankle problem. Ali Patberg transferred after recovering from ACL and Erin Boley transferred.

Vaughn had played in the first six contests, averaging 13.2 minutes per game. The freshman also averaged the fifth most points (8.0) and rebounds (4.3) on the team and had shot 62.2 percent from the field, which ranked fourth in the ACC.
