"New athletic director Warde Manuel may be revisiting those as U-M and Notre Dame begin to try to find common ground for a new series.

“Nothing right now to report,” Manuel said about Notre Dame.

But he admitted he might have to move a series to accommodate the Irish.

The most immediate common ground could be 2018 and 2019. There’s not a common date in 2018 — U-M is open in Week 2, but Notre Dame has Ball State — but in 2019, both are open the second weekend."

I would assume Ball State can be moved. There is precedence with Georgia Tech replacing Miami of Ohio back in the '90s. If it can't be arranged, the only way for these two storied and rising programs to play is in the play-offs. Like in 2016. I'm all in.

I'd like a home/home series every 2-4 years. Nothing annual, just enough frequency to keep it going.

Notre Dame should stay away from Michigan for awhile..Nothing gained in playing them. besides there making a comeback ND wants nothing to do with,,Lets give it a break....

Agreed

Let's play the better Michigan program in Sparty and Purdue.

We don't need Michigan

While I would like to see the Michigan/Notre Dame game restarted, ND certainly does not need Michigan. Be serious!

Would rather see Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Nebraska Big Ten schools rotate in and out in ND future schedules.

It's pretty clear that Swarbrick canceled the series because of his disdain for former AD Brandon. With Warde Manual now at the helm, it's apparent this rivalry will resurface. Most likely it won't be an annual event but it is going to happen. Oh, the joy of it all!! Harbaugh v KeLLLy. Yes, please.

many forget that michigan wanted to cancel the ND series first when it appeared that the pac 10 and big 10 were heading to a scheduling agreement. I'm pretty sure at that exact moment Swarbrick realized the skunk bears were expendable. ND plays all their home games in the Midwest and usually plays Purdue or msu each year. ND has nothing to gain by playing Michigan, if it is in addition to another Midwest team. ND needs to stay the course of adding quality southern teams to enhance new recruiting pipelines. Texas, Georgia, FSU, Miami, Georgia Tech are all exponentially more beneficial then the skunk bears to institutional recruiting gains. Maybe make them part of the shamrock series back in Chicago, but I don't really see a need for a long term agreement.

Be nice to take our schedule down to an OU level IMHO....you really only need to play 1 - 2 teams in the top 25 to make the BCS....the selection committee has proved time and time again that its not really your SOS. Its your record.

All Swarbrick did was beat Brandon to the punch by one year. Brandon admitted that Michigan was going to end the series as an annual event when the big 10 went to a 9 game schedule.
