As per michigan board they kind of wrote him off because they had to many players at that position and would have to red shirt him and they did not want to do that. That was nice Michigan did that for him..

McKinley never had Michigan on his list of top schools.i'm guessing he would rather have the chance to be an all-American at notre dame than just get a few catches at Michigan while most of the touches would go to the running backs and tight ends. harbaugh really loves his running backs and tight ends more in his system it seems
