The Irish (14-17, 8-12 ACC) finished in a five-way tie for ninth place in the regular season and were assigned the No. 12 seed due to tiebreakers. The Irish will play the first game of the ACC Tournament on Tuesday at 2 p.m. EDT against 13th-seeded Pittsburgh (17-14, 8-12). Notre Dame beat Pitt, 76-72, in South Bend on Feb. 22.
If Notre Dame advances to the second round, it will play 5th-seeded North Carolina (20-12, 13-7) at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Another win would bring a Thursday matchup (2:30 p.m.) with 4th-seeded Wake Forest (21-10, 13-7) in the quarterfinals. Notre Dame lost to North Carolina, 74-73, in South Bend on Jan. 4 and lost at Wake Forest, 74-71, on March 1.
