It’s crazy. A lineman that can catch. How is that not top 5 when you’re one of the best to ever play the game? I’d take Gronk #1 overall 10/10.
Hes a good blocker, not a great blocker.

He is a remarkably bad-ass pass-catching TE. There's absolutely no doubt, wherever he goes in the draft....
He is improving for sure. Gotta think the Ravens expected much more given his draft position.
Geez… one has to begin thinking that we’re being trolled or else our brethren haven’t watched an NFL Draft in over a decade.
The position has led to a lot of teams being burned of late. With the exception of uber talented Kyle Pitts, TE’s aren’t going very high lately. Mayer will suffer because of this and because I’m sorry guys but he’s not going to blow anybody away at the (wait for it) combine. Will be go in the first round; yes. Will he one day be looked at as being a “steal”; idk. He’s not a great blocker. He’s not fast much less “exceptionally fast”, which is what would get him inside of the top 15.
What he will need is to be drafted to the “right” team and more importantly one that has the “right” QB. That’s what we should all be hoping for and not instead that he goes X in the draft.
I think he is hands down the best TE in the draft. I also think there is zero chance he is taken in the top 3 picks.
Mayer and hockenson have similar 40 times. I think he went top 10. He has turned into a very good blocker and is a matchup nightmare for LBs and/or safeties. Don’t know where he’ll go in the draft but he’s a stud. Best all around TE in the country.
Brother…TEs don’t get picked that highly. Most of the time, the first TE picked is something like the 20th pick in the first round. A top 10 pick used on a TE is rare. Pitts was the highest pick ever used on a TE.
A #1 pick used on anything other than DL/edge-rusher, OL (tackle), or QB is rare (you’ve had two WRs picked top 3 in like 25 years).
there are 3 TE’s rated closely together; that might move them down the board a bit. Teams might say wait , we can get the next one! ? is Bowers just a soph? not draft eligible? Also watch the Utah kid‘s value move up.
Mayer is a great college player and will do well in nfl but I think he’s the type of player nfl teams first round will hesitate on…. He’s not the dynamic athlete first round TEs typically are
but his reliability to show up every game is huge
I think anywhere first round is good for him
