Garnering his second national Coach of the Year honor, Dick Corbett Head Football Coach Marcus Freeman was named the winner of the George Munger College Coach of the Year Award, presented by the Maxwell Football Club.

Nice to see Marcus win an award, but who is George Munger?

I asked the same question myself! I had to look him up on Wikipedia. Here is the bio:

The award is presented by The Maxwell Football Club, but is named after Munger. You have probably heard of the Maxwell Award; it is presented annually by The Maxwell Football Club to the person they deem to be the best player in CFB. Brady Quinn won it in 2006 and Manti Te`o in 2012. I recall that Manti won just about every award that year except for the Heisman Trophy.

Thanks. I like to think I am fairly knowledgeable about the history of the game. I never heard of him before though.
