The only 100% way to keep Golson at ND would be if Coach Kelly named him starting QB. It's all on Golson's shoulders on where he'll play this fall. He made his choice yesterday. It's not about Coach Kelly; he didn't tap out - Golson did. Thanks Everett for some really good moments. Malik, it's your turn now.
Lots of examples of freshmen either starting or replacing an injured starting QB and doing a great job. I totally agree with Ara's comments, but wish I had a better sense for Kizer, who hasn't ever created the usual fan buzz. Being sandwiched between Malik and Wimbush is part of the explanation, but find myself buying into Wimbush as the heir apparent without much thought of Kizer, and not sure why.
Pers was very high on Kizer as a developmental project until Wimbush signed. Hopefully he is capable of holding down the fort if something happened to Malik. It is rare that a true freshman could step in an excel though.
still think Kizer is a real talent; he needs development. K&W are both good looking QB prospects and are very similar.

some time ago I stated that ND ought move on from EG; EG would be 'One and Done' and ND would be left with an inexperienced situation at QB. (i made that preposal prior to last season).
Getting Kizer all those reps this spring would have put him much farther alone than where he stands at this time.
And in the end, what did ND profit for standing pat with EG at QB? 7-5 and he is gone. I keep reading how Wimbush is a fast study talented QB, he better be.
ND might be a play or two from 2 walkons QB'ing the offense and defense (MVG and Schmidt); contemplate that when planning for the playoff possibilities.
