His first game in which he split time with Golson against a tough SEC defense he carries the ball 22 times for 96 yards and throws 12 out of 15 for 96 yards and a TD and he had zero turnovers.

I could see him running for over 200 yards against weaker competition.

Malik is a stud ! No way does Golson beat him out !

Tony Rice led us to an undefeated 12 and 0 season in 1988 !!

Malik Zaire will lead us to a 14 and 0 season in 2015/16 !!

I can't say I disagree with you. I do however have the feeling that Kelly would rather have Golson as the starter.

BK does have extreme loyalty to EG. But IMO MZ is MY starter! Seems that he is a GAMER whereas EG is a practice star. IMO the jury on EG's turnovers will be out until gameday.

I'd rather have Golson start. Think this team is poised for a run and a first time qb starter would mean a learning curve and major bumps. Look at any stats from a 1st time starter from Vince Young to Jimmy Clausen. Also, look at the improvement from QBs in their 2nd to 3rd years. May the best man win but I don't believe a guy with 6 quarters of playing time is going to get this team to the next level.

IF EG starts, I just hope he's on a short lease if he gets turnover happy again. I think MZ has the "it" factor even more than EG. I don't care if he only started the bowl game. He is confident and gets into his teammates like he cares. EG has zoned out and just watching him sulk on the sideline sucks. I want the QB with fire in his belly- he is what makes watching college football fun IMO. I'm sure we'll see the 2 QB system this season but I just don't like it.

The EG of 2012 was a kid with HUGE upside and had some great moments with many young mistakes. I was impressed by his commitment to return to ND in 2014 and yes he started out as a Heisman-quality QB but then TURNOVERS came in a torrent.

Which is the REAL EG??? A Heisman caliber player? Or a QB that hates to run and cannot secure the football? BK & coaches need to figure that out by the end of spring......cause IMO I liked everything I saw from a young MZ!!!
