Couldn't sleep so I watched the DVR of Stanford 2014. Couple observations.

Negatives
- BK abandoned the run so quickly. He was so quick to just sling the ball all over the field with Golson, despite the horrid weather conditions. I'm praying he abandons this mentality this year and we become a run first team. They dropped 8 and rushed 3 consistently and BK still got in shotgun and threw all day. That's just stupid. Constantly throwing on first down all game.
- My goodness, I forgot what a liability Golson really was. He was awful. Everyone wants to remember his game winning 4th down TD to Koyack, but are quick to forget his disgusting turnover in the 1Q where he carried the ball like a loaf of bread on first down and fumbled.... on his own 10yrd line leading to 7pts Stanford. Or the interception in the 2nd quarter where he threw a forced ball on Stanford 10yrd line, costing more points.
- It's so noticeable that it takes forever for the defense to get lined up properly....I just didn't notice this with the Stanford defense. ND running around like a bunch of 1st graders at recess

The fact that BK had no faith and put no onus on the run game, combined with the sloppiness of Goslon really handicapped the team last year....let's hope BK learned something this offseason. I think Malik Zaire is the right QB for the type of offense we need to win.

Positive
-Chris Brown had a great game, he abused Lyons all day. He has the skills just needs to be consistent.
- The defense was relentless in this game. They made many tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage. What happened to them as the season went on !! They were a pack of wild dogs in the Stanford game....how could Joe Schmidt have that much impact. I don't buy it.
- Golson, when he does have time and gets his feet set really does throw a great ball, but I'll take Malik for my team any day over Golson.
- Procise looked great in this game as well...really looking forward to a Thunder/Lighting combo with him and Foslton this year if they can stay healthy.
- Kevin Hogan had a brutal game for Stanford ....hopefully he hasn't gotten a lot better.

Other
- I hate David Shaw, he's so smug. I want to destroy Stanford this year in their own backyard by running them all game.
- I'm gonna miss Mike Mayock, he's such a good analyst. Learned a ton during his broadcasts... I can't imagine that the Flutie/Jon Vilma duo is going to equal him.
- Lets hope they get the field goal holder problem fixed this year. If that wasn't such an issue there would have been no reason for the last second heroics.
- Hopefully we don't have to hear "the walk on Joe Schmidt" this year
- Where did Heggarty end up
