Here are tonight's Lucky Charms...
*** Notre Dame is involved in some big recruitments down the stretch of the 2021 class, and none is bigger than Los Angeles Loyola cornerback Ceyair Wright. He visited Michigan over the weekend and loved his time in Ann Arbor. He told Rivals.com's Adam Gorney that Michigan's on the field struggles don't impact him, but what I would imagine could play a major role is whether or not there are major coaching changes for the Wolverines. If I'm Notre Dame, Michigan isn't my biggest concern right now.
*** The bigger concern is whether or not Wright makes it back to South Bend. He's planning to come in for the Dec. 5 weekend, which is when the Irish take on Syracuse for its home finale, but I don't believe his plane tickets are booked just yet. A few months ago, Notre Dame was in a logjam with about a dozen other programs on his list. As time has gone on, Notre Dame has been a constant, and I'm gaining much more optimism in the Irish's chances here.
*** Trips to Nebraska, Utah and Oregon are being discussed as well by Wright, but I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't take any of those trips and only heads out to Notre Dame before making his decision. Currently, the three schools I think that have the best chances here are Michigan, Notre Dame and USC. I never really bought into Stanford for Wright, and they're fading. If Wright makes it to South Bend Dec. 5 which would potentially be his final visit ahead of a Jan. 2 decision date, then watch out. You can be assured that Blake Fisher and the gang will be on campus too.
*** Moving on to a couple of 2022 targets... Naples (Fla.) High defensive back Devin Moore will be a difficult land for the Irish considering his location and schools on his offer list, but the 6-3, 182-pounder feels very valued by the Irish coaching staff. He hears regularly from Irish safeties coach Terry Joseph and was impressed with Notre Dame's victory over Clemson. "It definitely shocked me and reinforces how top tier Notre Dame is," Moore told me after the Irish's big win. Florida, Florida State, Stanford and Virginia are some of the top schools on Moore's list.
*** Hammond (Wis.) St. Croix Central offensive lineman Carson Hinzman was one of Notre Dame's first two O-line offers in the 2022 class and has built a close relationship with position coach Jeff Quinn. Hinzman is not close to any major decisions in his recruitment. He mentioned Iowa, Alabama, Oregon, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Penn State, LSU and Michigan as schools doing a good job in his recruitment in an article with our Wisconsin rivals website.. At the end of the day, I do not see this kid going far from home. I think Wisconsin is the team to beat but Notre Dame will give the Badgers a run for their money.
