Here are tonight's Lucky Charms...
*** The recruitment of West Bloomfield (Mich.) High running back Donovan Edwards is coming to an end with the early National Signing Day just 15 days away. He's enrolling early at his school of choice and I'm told he will sign on Dec. 16. I think he'll make a decision as close to signing day as possible, if not on the day itself. As far as him potentially visiting Notre Dame this weekend, a source close to him told me, "I don't think he is." It would've added some optimism for the Irish if he was going to visit, but I still think Notre Dame can win the recruitment without it.
*** Edwards' recruitment has been incredibly difficult to read. He rarely does interviews and stays out of the spotlight. He has played his recruitment close to his vest, and I've appreciated how he's handled his process. He's a very cerebral kid who takes in a lot of information, but he's just not sharing much with those close to him or college coaches recruiting him regarding where he's leaning. I think Edwards likes Notre Dame a good bit, but the vibe I've gotten here is that his dad and coach (yes, Ron Bellamy who played at Michigan has been supportive of ND in this recruitment) like the Fighting Irish more than Donovan does.
*** My sources don't feel like San Diego Morse running back Byron Cardwell will end up in the blue & gold. So let's skip him and discuss Montvale (N.J.) St. Joseph's Audric Estime, who is committed to Michigan State. I can confirm that Estime plans to skip the early signing period, but I do wonder if Notre Dame offers in the several days, then will he just go ahead and commit and sign? As I've said for a couple of weeks now, I feel that Estime will end up signing with the Irish. I'm not counting Edwards out, but it just seems more likely that he goes elsewhere, and Estime loves Notre Dame.
*** One quick 2022 note... Johns Creek (Ga.) High safety Terian Williams reports 34 scholarship offers and the Irish have been in some contact with the three-star prospect for quite some time. He's been on campus before too. I've seen Williams multiple times in person and I'd hold off on offering Williams too. The Irish are keeping Williams warm though.
