Here are tonight's Lucky Charms...
*** Notre Dame recruiting coordinator Brian Polian extended an offer to Flower Mound (Texas) Marcus wide receiver J. Michael Sturdivant in March, and the Fighting Irish staff has been pursuing him hard. Polian recruits the Dallas area for the Irish and has stayed in contact with the 6-3, 182-pounder, and wide receivers coach Del Alexander has been in contact lately with Sturdivant as well. Head coach Brian Kelly has made contact recently as well.
*** Sources tell me that the staff has made Sturdivant and South Florida speedster Jaden Alexis big priorities, and both prospects are feeling the love from the Irish. Alabama pass catcher Christian Lewis is another receiver Notre Dame recently offered but I believe Alexis and Sturdivant are the bigger priorities at this point in time. Deion Colzie and Dont'e Thornton are of course huge targets as well, and a source told me that as long as there's a pulse, the Irish will continue to go after Colzie.
*** So where does Notre Dame stand on Sturdivant's list? From what he's communicated to me, he really wants to check out South Bend before making a decision. There's no telling when he'll be able to take that trip. He did inform me that he has trips to Oklahoma and Cal set up for the first two weekends of June. While those two trips may not be able to happen, it does show that he has high interest in both programs too. It should be important to note that Sturdivant camped at Notre Dame last summer, so he's been able to experience campus at least somewhat.
*** The aforementioned Lewis tweeted today that he plans to commit on Sept. 28. As always with these announcement dates, especially those that are so far down the line, they are subject to change. From a Notre Dame perspective, him deciding a few months down the line is actually works out well. They'll have a much better idea of where their receiver board stands over the summer (hopefully, at least -- who knows what COVID-19's impact will be moving forward) and can make a bigger push for him in August and September if they choose to. Lewis has been to Notre Dame before and enjoyed it, so that box can be checked.
