Look at all that orange!

my prediction is this will happen more in the future as these teams that havent played at ND ever or in years are on the schedule and ticket prices skyrocket. to them this is an event and people will pay $300, 400, 500 a pop on tickets. I'll say I love ND but if I could sell 2 tickets and make close to a grand, it would be tough not to.

Looked like a lot of Orange in the upper part of the stadium and my understanding was Texas fans were paying close to $600-$700 a ticket to attend the game.

Sorry, but if someone wants to give me $600-$700 dollars that I payed $125 for, I'll cheer my team on from the bar (and first round is on me) or my couch. You give me a $1,000 return on a $250 investment, I'll take it every time.

Texas had a great showing. They probably occupied 25% of the seats. My brother and his wife sold their pair for $850 and watched from the Morris Inn. I would have done the same but I was taking my nephew who had never been to a game.

ND looked strong, better than advertised.

It really is a once in a generation game and ND IS ND.....so alot of visitors WANT to see it. It really is the same as at Cowboys games in texas......a destination game. Just so they all leave as "happy" as the texicans!!!

Texas is football and their fans travel well, but orange stands out against a blue background. All I know is they are questioning themselves now about dropping a grand to watch their horns get clipped.

If these "fans" sold out for Texas, they would do the same for USC, FSU, G Tech or any other big game at the stadium. So much for home field advantage. All the work the university has done to bring an electric atmosphere to the stadium as all of you have been crying about and now we know it is every man for themselves when it comes to the stadium atmosphere, home field advantage, and selling out. Shame shame. No home field advantage ever at the stadium.

While watching on tv, I noticed the Irish students all with their arms around each other and yelling their hearts out !

Let the old "down in fronters" sell their tickets (greedy old bastards) ! Let the students take care of the loud noise !

And I am glad Turnovermachine wasn't there !! He is a bad luck loser!

I too ONLY noticed ND noise......obviously due to no good plays by texas. Is the ND student section as big as the ticket demand? If not give way more students tix.

I sit right by the student section as I have mentioned several times and yes, they were loud. But, they also have been known to show up late and exit early during the hard times. And, upon closer inspection, you will find empty areas in the very high rows of the Frosh / Soph sections. The cameras don't catch that. Evidently, the new normal for some Irish "fans" is to sell big, then hang out at the local bar telling everybody that you sold big. Of course, hanging out at the bar or Legends doesn't do much for stadium atmosphere that BK and Jack are both trying hard to create. Shame! Shame! Shame!

It's not just ND. Student attendance at CFB games is declining all across the country. It has been well documented. I'm not saying it is right. I'm just saying that it is not unique to ND.

Students don't have specific seats just a section. So the students crowd together and you do get some spots that look like there are empty seats but since they stand except during halftime it really isn't empty. I noticed the Orange on one half of the stadium but not as much on the other half. In total it was probably 20%.

This is a unique situation. I had 8 tickets. Only needed 4. So I sold 4 to my Friends for face value (NO PROFIT). However, my other friends had 4 tickets and sold them to texas fans for 2k. Yes, 2k.....I have no beef with them on what they did. This game was a once in a lifetime game for Texas fans. It should be no different when we play at Austin. My friends logic was to get money to buy tickets down in Austin.

I would agree. Upper southwest corner and south endzone had a lot of Texas fans, but overall about 20% sounds right.
Texas always has and always will travel well.

Students do in fact have specific sections and what often happens is the upper part rows will make their way to the lower part to be with friends and all the excitement and some also sneak into other sections to be with friends. That is all true enough. But, during the lean years, many in the student section do come late and leave early. Standing has nothing to do with the look of empty rows. I saw a report last week on WGN TV news that NIU was going to give out free tuition for the Spring semester to one lucky student who attends all home games and stays till the end of each game. Not sure about how the administration is going to figure all this out. Texas fans who want to attend a Notre Dame game and can't get tickets is their problem. These Irish "fans" who sell out are the very same who complain about the gray hairs and the lack of atmosphere at the stadium. I would love all these "fans" who sold out to tell BK and Jack, face to face, the reasoning on why they sold their tickets. Especially the justification that Texas fans wanted to experience a game at ND. Get back to me on what their answer is. The debate about silence in the stadium, gray hairs, stand up or sit down, crowd noise and ushers is over.

Texas has a lot of fans, and alot of wealthy boosters. This was a matchup between two historic programs, its going to sell and attract the opposing fan bases to come. It's going to be that way with future matchups against A&M, UGA and OSU. Who all have huge fan bases.

It's the same thing when ND goes on the road. Lots of green, blue and gold in the stands. Im expecting to see a ton this weekend in Charlottesville!!!

I'm a Texas grad that was at the game. My dad went to ND and I grew up a huge fan, so I was a little torn the whole time, and found myself singing the victory march under my breath. I went to the BC game back in '06 when I was a senior in college and I have to say, I don't remember the tailgating seen being quite as impressive as this weekend, or the game atmosphere. While there was quite a bit of Orange in the upper deck and sprinkled throughout the stadium, we obviously didn't have much to cheer about and were drowned out by the ND crowd. I think 20-25% seems about right, and I expect much of the same in Austin next year. I was a little surprised by the amount of tickets you allotted to us.

All in all, it was an awesome trip. Great fans, incredible atmosphere... just wish the game was a little closer. I think I speak for all Texas fans that we look forward to seeing all y'all in Austin next year and good luck the rest of the season. But if you thought Saturday was hot, just wait until you come down here.

"Alotted" and "scalped" are two different things.

Typically, ND designates 5,000 tix to visiting fans. There was probably
another 5,000 more that Texas fans gobbled up on the secondary market.

I talked with some Longhorn fans late in the game and they said it was the best experience they ever had. My problem is not with the Texas fans. My problem is with the Irish fans who sold out. There is a lingering back story. For a few years now, there has been an ongoing debate about how low key the atmosphere is at the stadium. Many felt it did not give our lads real home field advantage. This has been argued dozens and dozens of times on this very board. The "many" blamed the older fans first. Then they blamed the stadium ushers for making fans sit down. Then they blamed the lack of a jumbo. BK and our AD have been working hard over the past five years to change the culture inside the stadium. To make it hard for opponents to play here. "Stand up and cheer" is the rallying cry. And now you have many of these same Irish "fans" who bitched about the lack of home field advantage sell out to opponents fans. I had the opportunity and I declined. What Irish fans do at other stadiums is not the concern here. It's about our stadium. Our home field advantage. What our HC and AD have been working hard to achieve. How our HC / AD feel about the "fans" who sold out. One thing last Saturday has done is forever lay to rest the argument that the old fans and ushers are the problem. Texas fans were terrific. Good luck the rest of the season.

How do we know that all the fans that sold tickets are the ones that complain about the atmosphere in the stadium? I truly believe its the $ that ND home games can generate. Sometimes 2k is just too much to pass up. You don't see tickets prices like that at other games. Everyone has a threshold. Not saying its right because I sold 4 tickets for face value to ND fans. Money is not an issue for me but I do not look down at people that made a huge profit.
