Justice sometimes prevails. Self centered and career driven at all costs including a lack of concern for others, basically bad manners - is catching up to a one trick offensive minded pony. And that’s always a good thing

Let’s see if spoiled children can lose 3 more games Why would anyone, NFL included, want this phony ass?

He still has the players. He faces some tough post season decision.
A somewhat disappointing season here. I was hoping ND and SC would resurrect and take back CF supremacy.
I know a lot more of ND and was hopeful, but ND was it turns out, a year away! ND in ‘24! As for SC, very hard to figure.
Riley may need to part with his dear friend Grinch, and maybe 1 or two others on his staff. Week after week he sees lesser talented but tougher teams outfighting his charges. SC is not keeping up with ND.

I watched much of their game last night. It looked to me that their offensive line was not good at all (like against us), Caleb Williams was running for his life much of the time and was really just biding his time to go pro, and the defense was disorganized and spent too much time showboating on the field pre snap to fans in the stands. A long way to go to improve.

The offensive line isn’t great, but it often looks worse than it is because Williams doesn’t make quick reads since he is given the leeway to extend plays and make magic happen, which he often does.

As for “biding his time to go pro,“ I don’t know—he lowers his shoulder and puts himself in harm’s way very often, taking massive hits. Someone with a foot out the door or checked out probably wouldn’t.

I don’t think LR is any trouble at all, but maybe, he needs to revamp his staff It will be entirely his decision.

depends on how this season goes. IF they collapse then he is on the hot seat next year
Garbage.

11 million guaranteed for the next 10 seasons.

Lincoln may go NFL; however, Riley will not be on any hot seat.

My op is not about him being on a hot seat. It’s about him losing his halo, his luster. It is easy to see he has been exposed and the hot commodity he once was is fading fast
Yep, ski, I got it and it is so! Honeymoon, halo, vacation } over! Time to be productive. Maybe not a hot seat terms of job security, but he might not get as many Christmas Cards this year!

And Marcus Freeman lost his halo, his luster, not managing to get 11 on the field on defense after a timeout late in the game against Ohio St, then getting beat by Louisville. Dabo has lost 3 games now. It's a tough business.

It’s a very tough business. Freeman got his halo back. That happens when u best the snot out of your rival. Something Kelly never did. He will have challenges but he is on a good path

15-7 at Notre Dame, no 4-team playoff, there is no halo.

Freeman is a work in progress.

And I support Marcus Freeman. 100%.

Someone gets credit for blowing a huge lead against Oklahoma St.

And I agree, Freeman needs to go 10-2 given the schedule the remainder of the season.

Agreed about his running, but the rest of the time his body language seemed a bit nonchalant.

I’m not like most ND fans I suppose, USC has never bothered much outside our game with them. I always felt more dislike for MSU, UM, & Purdue. Though those teams haven’t had the success USC has had, I just don’t like any of them at all. In fact, I dislike Stanford exponentially more then USC.

Also, I’m not a fan of wishing others to be crushed, or destroyed in their professional/personal lives. That’s weird, IMO and never understood that thinking.

Being a sad sad Buffalo Bills fan, I don’t like NE, and as much as Brady kicked our asses and pissed me off, I never thought “I hope he breaks his leg” like my buddy would. I never hoped Belichick would be run out of the NFL in some fashion.

As humans & sinners, it’s normal to have some of those feelings but folks should not dwell on it, they should push that away as it’s not godly to want other to suffer loss.

Ever hear of something called a settlement?
And the USC alumni could kick in a bundle if they wanted to.
IF it gets bad enough something will be done.
It is called reality.

The settlement will be him leaving for the NFL. If not he will return and fire his strength coach and DC. I'm gonna add an interesting twist to this. He might hang up play calling and what if he brought in his brother to be OC.

Seems to me he ought to find someone really good at being a DC and then really recruit there.

No where near that point
At this moment I agree. How USC does the rest of this season will determine how warm things get next season when Williams is gone. Though obviously he could use that as an excuse.
I just am not impressed by his record; to be blunt overall what is different from his and BK's?
Yes both recruited well and both won a lot of games but neither one won a NC and to be blunt did not get all that close as our only shot at a NC we got worked.

His overall record is much better than Kellys

He won a NY6 game

He was competitive in a playoff game

Ever hear of something called a contract. Go read it. 11 million per year guaranteed for 9 more seasons including this one.

I think I was wrong in thinking Riley and USC would turn it around. They're clearly not where they need to be and by now might not get there with Riley. They looked bad vs ND and Utah the past 2 games.

I'm really surprised with Caleb. Thought he'd lead USC back to elite status. He's being exposed as a running QB, not pocket passer.

It's amazing because USC has everything to be an elite program. They hired the wrong guy. Riley doesn't get it about defense. Now I question if he can even produce a top offense, supposedly his trademark.

I heard a great comment the past 2 weeks. Coaches like Riley are at their ceiling of sorts. Coaches like Freeman and, yes, Sanders, are at their floor...and surely can only go up. Obviously we as ND fans are living this experiment with former players turned coaches using their charisma to get buy in for the best recruits, mastering the Xs and Os in time.

I could be wrong yet again...but I think with NIL, transfers, and branding, these types of player's coaches will thrive. You need a connection to get players that now can make $$$, live it up, and actually play vs staying on bench at a stacked squad.

The only reason I added hiring his brother is they both run the same scheme. And sometimes the problem isn't just the assistants, it's a Head Coach who needs to distance himself from play calling and focus more energy on the overall mission of the team. See BK. After 2016 what did he do? Went out and got an OC and became the Head Coach.

But I still have a feeling he's looking NFL. I think he is afraid of the B1G. Just like he was afraid of the SEC.

"Nobody should be surprised that the Trojans lost to the Utes on Saturday, because this is what has happened to this team under Lincoln Riley. The same thing happened when the Trojans went to South Bend. Any time USC faces a team capable of punching it in the mouth, it wilts.

The Big Ten is nothing but the kind of teams Lincoln Riley's USC struggles to beat. It's a conference full of Utahs and Notre Dames that will be more than happy to drag the Trojans into the mud and force them to win wrestling matches they've shown no ability to win under Riley."

Actually, LR has to shake off the ‘offense’, ‘casual defense’ Ideas that worked in the B8. He will slowly transition to a defense 1st philosophy or become a BiG doormat.
