We could see it coming Sunday, but now it's official.

Notre Dame women’s basketball graduate point guard Lili Thompson will miss the remainder of the 2017-18 season after tearing her ACL in her right knee during the third quarter of the Wake Forest game on Dec. 31. As a result, the Irish are left with seven active scholarship players and three walk-ons. Incredibly, she is the fourth Irish women's b-ball player to tear her ACL in the last nine months, joining Brianna Turner, Mychal Johnson and Mikayla Vaughn.

“I know this team is mentally tough and we will band together through this challenge and persevere,” head coach Muffet McGraw said. “It’s certainly an unprecedented situation in my career. We wish Lili a speedy recovery.”

Thompson played in all 14 games and became the primary guard off the bench in the previous eight games. The Texas native averaged 5.9 points per game, a team-best 1.6 steals and boasted a 4.6 assists per game average, which ranked sixth in the ACC.
