I know I've been a tad "active" today (ruined a good work day in the process!), and personally apologize for excessive "reactiveness" on my part.
Black Tuesday is almost over. It sucked for a lot of people, and it sucks now for some of the less intelligent posters that thought they were free of all of us miscreants, only to see us all back. But as screwed up as it all was, I know for a fact that it sucked a lot harder for the mods. I guess we've moved beyond the honeymoon stage?
Seriously, we bitch when they don't get involved, and then go nuclear when they do. There is really no way to come anywhere near pleasing the masses here, especially when issues become so polarizing.
I am perhaps one of the bigger proponents of letting the board breathe, but I also understand that I bear at least some responsibility for what I say here. All of us jailbirds are grateful for the support we received today. If anything constructive came of that, I'm hoping it raised the awareness that there are a lot more posters that want the board to "breathe" than those who want a library-type atmosphere.
I would absolutely hate to have to moderate this mess. My skin is way too thin for that, especially when there is absolutely no way to win. Let's not forget how happy most of us have been at the increase of content, as well as the privilege of having Lou as our main source of all things ND.
Tomorrow is another day. I'm not promising that I won't get right back in a poster's face if they choose to go all "pyscho righteous"... but I am looking forward to talking more basketball (and football), and less shit. (I can still say shit, right?).
Our mods are primarily writers, whom we are blessed to have. Today had to have sucked royally for them. Again, I apologize for my part in driving the board crazy and I really suggest, if I may be so bold, that we give these guys a break and move on.
Seriously.
