I couldn't see who missed that tackle in the backfield on the last play
who was that?
That play by Tillery was terrible and his play all game was average and very softI think Tillery - got there but had his head down and whiffed.
What was even worse ...
Everyone in the world knew #18 was running the ball. Odds were in 95% favor he was going to the right.
This confusion on the players parts is because the defensive coordinator is an idiot. The first run in score earlier by #18...
Our backers and safeties played it like it was first and 15 from midfield.
They still did it on the last play. Amazing. The hole opened up, they then allowed #18 to come to them before engaging.
We needed our back seven guys there to immediately fill the hole that opened up. It should be played that way regardless but ESPECIALLY there in that situation everyone on earth knew he'd run.
We have players scared of that #18 or they really don't know how and the urgency to fill the hole. Meaning meet the ball carrier at the point of attack instead of waiting on him.
It takes a man's man to play that right. Headaches are not optional but guaranteed.
Regardless it's wrong wrong wrong and BVG is embarrassing
There is a fine line between going hot at practice or going thud. The younger we are we can tackle every practice and recover OK. The older we get starting in high school and beyond too much tackling at practice presents bigger injury risks.Spot on. We played tentative on D. Not all of them. But too many were not playing with the fire u need to be a good defensive player. Not wrapping up on tackles and bouncing off is inexcusable. If u practice tackling at practice you will know pretty quickly which players are solid tacklers and which ones are not. Any player that shows any kind of hesitation with not being a great tackler during practice should never see the field or be moved to offense.
ND must do very little live tackling at practice.
