Michael Wilbon on ESPN's Pardon My Interruption just called DeShone Kizer the best college football QB in the country! A little hyperbole, I think but I know a lot of guys on this board share his enthusiasm for DK even if we aren't ready to go that far yet. I'm not jinxing this run!

Kudos to Kelly and Sanford! And of course to Kizer who really seems to be a class act. Imagine him in 2-3 years!

Kelly is really building one hell of a program.

Wilbon needs to slow down - the last thing we need is for DK to "read press clippings" - as fast as the media may want to nominate him to be the next "great ND QB" - he still has 3 very important games to play and he needs to play lights out in all 3. DK still has a long ways to go - he is surrounded by some great talent that is helping him look very good. But, I will say he does look pretty dam good back there as the QB !

Nice to finally have a QB with NFL size! 6'4" 230 and only a sophomore. Biggest ND QB since... Brady was 6'3" what was Crist..?

consider this:
a kid who was a distant 3rd string in spring, can, with continued big performances in the final 3 games, find himself a HT finalist! an amazing story!

(kudos to the staff? for arranging the transfer of EG and telling MZ to get injured!)

And can run!!!! He can play WR with Zaire at QB or will Zaire get some carries at RB?

Pers! Why do you always gotta be like that? Who do you think coaches these young QBs? You think these kids just jump onto the field and fire away? Have you watched the games and seen Kizer talking to Sanford after ever series? Or with Kelly on the sideline? (Teachers and students -- and yes, it is helpful to have a talented student but with the teacher...) And what about all those 5*s who play for the coaches you love that never pan out?! It is all about the coaching. And I bet EG is kicking himself about now. Kelly and Sanford have done an amazing job with this young man.

Studon-

Add a kudo or two for Will Fuller who is the best deep threat @ ND ever .

I will handle the D bag ( Purse ) for you

Kelly coaches fumbling, Kizer is self taught and is successful in spite of Kelly's incompetence - per purse Nov 2015

Purse 27 K is the embodiment of all that is wrong with dysfunctional internet trolls

QB Rating of 160. Kizer has been great this season! Just hope he can tune out the noise and stay focused. Look at what Kelly can do with talent at the QB position. People probably forget that this is the first season that Kelly has a 4 star QB in which he handpicked.

I think the work with Kizer (Sanford has certainly helped develop him since he was getting the reps necessary); but face it this may have all been missed if not for certain events. The truth is there was a certain amount of mis-evaluation, which was corrected by chance.
I am not knocking the staff, but don't blow smoke up my butt they they were so insightful. Kizer might well be sitting and my guess is there would be a couple more losses in the L column. Credit where credit is due; but that's it. Credit due Kizer for his determination and ability AND believing in himself!

I will give Perse credit for 2 things --
Identifying Kizer's potential early
And having the modesty to not boast of his foresight which would be easy and tempting to do especially for a guy from the Jersey shore

Very good Perse - that made me LOL. conspiracy believers may think BK was the mastermind behind the EG transfer - probably the first time a starter who transfers actually makes the team better ! When has that ever happened ? Luck of the Irish and w/ how bad BK's luck has been w. starting QB's - he was due for some good luck at the position.

I mentioned in another thread yesterday that he talked of Kizer as a Heisman hopeful. I played it back just to make sure my hearing wasn't deceiving me but then the replay proved out that he said Kizer. Then, I proposed the question if anyone thought he got Kizer and Watson mixed up. On top of all that, he is a ND lean when it comes to the Final Four.

Stanford didn't have much to do with it. Matt LaFleur work with him all last year and Kizer said that was what help him get ready for this year but you wouldn't know that since you are just a BANDWAGON fan.

Sanford is working with Kizer as starter; Lefleur's with DK and made him distant 3rd string.

ah, love those fans thatvhave nothing so they roll out those ole labels! a weak substitution for thought.

BTW: I was the single poster touting Kizer as a real contender to be a star! 2 years ago! Not 1 poster chimed in in agreement; all I read was he was a career backup!
where were you then? probably telling me I knew nothing .... So?

BTW: the poster that said DK was hand picked by Kelly? Do you follow recruiting? DK was not in the top targeted group; again no need to exaggerate truths! Kelly ultimately found DK: that's good enough.

Good for you Perse but give the coaches some credit! Kelly for getting them to ND AND coaching them. Kelly for recognizing Sanford's talent as a coach. Sanford for coaching them up, first Zaire then KIzer: About starting Zaire -- Sanford had him ready to vs texas: Zaire was 19 of 22 passes for 313 yards and three touchdowns. He spread the ball to seven different receivers, and his 86.4 percent completion rate was the second highest in school history.

In one year as the offensive coordinator at Boise State, where he himself had been a backup QB, Sanford engineered the nation's No. 9 scoring offense and coached the nation's most accurate passer, senior Grant Hedrick (70.8 percent). The Broncos finished 12-2, culminating in a 38-30 Fiesta Bowl win over Arizona. After a single season as an FBS offensive coordinator, Sanford reportedly drew interest from Vanderbilt, Oregon State and even defending national champion Ohio State. But he didn't truly consider leaving Boise until Notre Dame called.

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes. Good call Purse and Go Irish!

I have given the staff credit; honest credit where it is due. No need to invent/conjure up some things as if there was not enough actual achievement to give credit for. Read the link.
Last week I posted a thread crediting this as Kelly's best effort; but it was because of the job he was actually doing; not message board fodder! There are obvious 'kudos' due Kelly for the '15 season, having assembled this staff which enables Kelly do do the thing(s) he does best (be CEO) is a major change.

As for Sanford, why do you think Jack boarded the plane (with BK) to help recruit and hire him? This was no ordinary hiree. Because the guy has a future, hopefully at ND! And I get crap for being too pro Sanford! Then Jack S. is too!

BTW Fuller is returning and the '16 offense will be even more potent than this years version.
