about the 4th and 1 where ND ran off the punt team and ran on the offense, got the offsides against Georgia to maintain the drive. Saying it's illegal to run 11 off and run 11 on. Well Kirby, you need to brush up on the rules.

1. Timing: Substitutions must occur during a dead-ball period (after the previous play ends and before the next play begins).
2. Defensive Matching Opportunity: If the offense substitutes players, the defense must be given a reasonable opportunity to substitute players in response. The officials will delay the snap, if necessary, to allow the defense time to match substitutions.
3. Prompt Substitutions: Players entering and exiting must do so promptly to avoid a delay of game penalty.
4. Illegal Substitution Penalty: A 5-yard penalty is enforced if players fail to exit the field before the snap, resulting in too many players on the field or illegal substitution.

There is no mention of how many players can be substituted. What a cry baby.

I watched the entire post game press conference. Kirby Smart was gracious in defeat, complimented Notre Dame several times, and simply disagreed with the rules interpretation of 11 players running off 20 minutes after the game ended.

He was, but it's not illegal to substitute 11 players. He needs to confirm the rule before he claims it's illegal.

The key is that the long snapper never got down to put his hand on the ball to snap it.

If he was so gracious he would have stated that the play was just one of many that Georgia should have done better

Too many times in the press conference he allowed the penalties to be a topic

Agree with your last part. But I sincerely believe that Kirby Smart believed at the time he was correct. He was simply wrong.

I agree with this. Also agree with your prior post that he was gracious and complimentary towards ND. Frankly, I can’t stand his sideline theatrics and non stop working the officials, but respected his and post game demeanor and comments.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter if they substituted twice. Georgia had time to substitute. They just jumped offside.

And could also have used a timeout (though, I think he only had 2 left at that point anyway)

Yeah he was wrong

The other option Georgia had was not letting our offense punk their defense for the last 9 minutes of the game.
Georgia effectively had the last 11 minutes of the game to score twice and they came away empty handed. . We stopped them on fourth down, but it was negated due to Kizer's interference call. So we did it again like it was no big deal. Then our offense bled 7-plus minutes from the clock to close out the game, which was a thing of beauty.

A lot of people are suggesting that UGA could have slow walked their substitution and forced us to take a delay of game or call timeout.

That’s true. Well stated.

That said, one could argue the Georgia defense played just as well as the Notre Dame defense over 60:00.

The Georgia defense was everything I thought it would be. That could have very well been a 10-9 Georgia victory.

Pretty sure they don’t get forever to get lined up
They didn't exactly race out onto the field. There was a pause before they trotted out. It took them a few seconds to line up. I'd imagine in the future, teams will respond to a mass substitution like ND pulled by sauntering out to the field to try to force a delay of game.

I would hope/guess the refs would just let the offense snap the ball at some point. Tall task to figure out just how much time they get, but I think it’s easily defendable if everyone can see the other team is purposely trying to get a delay penalty against the offense.
