Definitely going to need to utilize the portal for a kicker and a punter. Hopefully a game does not come down to a potential game winning field goal beyond 30 yards. The punting game has been quite underwhelming too given the hype of the current punter coming in. With an elite defense the ability to flip the field is a huge weapon.

There was an article last year about how ND was focusing almost exclusively on getting kickers through the portal because of the risk involved in trying to develop a kicker directly from high school.
In any event, it's clear that Jeter, who was a combined 23 out of 25 the past two years, is either still injured or more likely has lost his mojo.
He's got about a week to straighten it out.

I think every post from yesterday and today has been negative. You seriously can't find one positive thing to say about ND?
I mean your whipping boys Junior and Hinish are actually playing really good ball. Way better players than you have them credit for. And the head coach who you wanted out is 1 win away from the Playoff.

I have a praise nds physicality, the discipline, offense when not inside 5 yard line, and some really good Riley throws.
Junior and Hinish are not playing well, they just played solid vs army. I sure hope they play good vs usc. They were both 1-1 all day due to mills getting doubled all day.
I wanted freeman out as DC as I said he was average at best dc but has a chance to be a much better ceo. He’s doing that this year when he finally isn’t relying on friends to coach. We handle business like we should vs usc freeman should get a lot of praise for the turnaround.
Army and Navy are two teams made for Hinish. Thought he played really well yesterday. I love the way he plays the game…his energy and aggression and pure joy, etc…. Jr has been much better than expected once given the opportunity, very solid. Can’t say enough about all the players that have stepped up big time after all the injuries to starters. Quite a list!

No problem. Coach is a great friend and long time mentor of mine.
Ken didn't get to MSU until 1994. My last season was 1991. I met him a few times during his long tenure at MSU. A highly intense, ultra positive human being. Beloved for sure.
To be fair we got Jeter from the portal and he was a good kicker with S Car. All i know is id go for every 4th down & god help us if we need a last sec fg to tie or take the lead.
Yea -- Coach Mannie was highly intense. He was my HS coach for 2 years. His wife's brother and I played HS ball together, and her other brother was just inducted into the HS Hall of Fame as a coach recently.
Had the pleaseure of meeting LeVeon Bell's parents -- asked them what he thought of Coach Mannie -- his dad joked that LeVeon did not like Coach Mannie -- back to your point, he was intense.
