KhalId Kareem ! Requiem of a Heavyweight !

Yeah like 7 years ago. Where is he? Is it getting better this year or does he lose the whole year?

Khalib looks like a megastar in the making Bodi. Orange Bowl committee was at the game today.

Brian Kelly was asked about Kareem in the postgame presser. People are taking notice.
The Irish got one of their greatest dline pass rusher recruiting classes in 2016.
D. Hayes, Khalid Kareem, Adetokumdo Ogendeji, Jamir Jones, Julian Okwara, Jonathon Jones.
I expect a more improved pass rush as the season goes on. They are all true sophmores now.

Lisfranc injuries are horrible for linemen. Those big men take a long time to come back to form. Took Jarron Jones nearly 2 whole years.

What most people forget is that it's a non weight baring injury. You have to be extra careful with a big man because of his natural load. These guys lose a ton of power, explosiveness, strength and endurance in their lower body coming back off that injury.

That said, I doubt Elijah is ever more than a rotational player anyways. The younger guys are too good. Bonner liķely gets a 5th year. Tillery likely returns for his senior season. Maybe Cage returns for a 5th year if he feels healthy. MTA is already playing good football as a freshman and his best days are ahead of him. Darnell Ewell is only a matter of time. Jayson Ademilola is going to contribute as a freshman. Jamion Franklin could possibly as well. If Jay Hayes returns for a 5th year he could play some snaps inside to get Ogundeji and Kareem on the field, as well as Daelin and Julian at the same time. Who knows what kind of leap Kurt Hinish makes between his freshman and sophomore years...

Can't remember the last time we had this kind of combination of talent and depth across the defensive line, assuming our recruiting class sticks. I keep expecting Jay Hayes moving inside to alternate with Bonner, with Trumbetti and Kareem holding down the SDE. Personally think that's our strongest rotation, to compliment Tillery/Amosa and D Hayes/Okwara, etc... That said, no question that Jay Hayes is playing his best ball this year at the SDE position. Think about the players, especially upper class men, playing their best ball ever by wide margins: Tillery and Tranquill and Hayes and Bonner and Trumbetti, etc... coaching and scheme fitted to personnel matter! Damn, this is a fun team to watch, warts and all.
