Tulsa loss.
Record 8-5.
Good coach 10-3 counting Tulsa and Navy as wins.

2011- South Florida debacle at home opener.
Michigan 30 second comeback.
FSU bowl game.
Good coach easily wins 2 of those 3
Record 8-5
Good coach -10-3

2012/2013- no issues really except getting plays off before the clock would run out constantly.
I would say not having another option for Rees in 2013

2014- Blows the Northwestern game with his two point sheet
Kelly single handily lost this game.
Louisville should have been a win-
The game was a shit show.
Record 8-5
Good Coach 10-3

2015- Blows chances at Clemson and Stanford with two point sheet again.

So, throw in delay penalties on offense early in his tenure.

We had a year with zero yards on punt returns. We had a year where our coverage sucked and we have two point issues with games lost.

Now this idiot running this defense for 3 years.
Kelly knows zero about defense. He can't take it over. He doesn't know defense. His answer to questions from the media this week about his decision to take a timeout to punt was frightening. Now comments like we need to do whatever we can to beat Duke.

Give him credit for field turf, Stadium improvements, staff pay raises but this guy isn't a top ten coach and this is going to be a garbage year.

I thought you were going to bring up the academic transgressions, Shembo playing patty fingers, filming practice in a hurricane, hand guns, pot, so on and so forth.

Great post; I had forgotten many of those errors in judgment Kelly made, especially going for 2 points when unnecessary.

And his hiring, and sticking with, Van Gorder, has been a disaster that he (Kelly) is unwilling to address apparently.

Well, really the matter is easily understood:
He is the head football coach on a very poorly coached football team.

IMO of Notre Dame as a program. They should be in the playoffs at least once every 4 years. Two other should at least be in the conversation and one year we perform below the playoff conversation.

1 year = 11-1 to 12-0

1 year - 8-5 to 9-4

2 years 10-2 to 11-1


Logically this season has rebuild written all over it however, where I think one glaring problem as a CEO that Kelly has.... Is he does not make hard decisions with personnel easily. BVG should have been gone at the end of last season. I understand why from a human point of view but BVG needs to be gone at the end of the day. We need a fresh approach on defense

Pers et al, Yes I fully understand ALL of our frustration so far in 2016......yet I want to remain as positive as possible. A 10 game WIN streak would do wonders!!

Coaches will not be let go until seasons end so the entire TEAM must work hard to learn fast and GET BETTER.

I think it is realistic. every 4 years a chance at the playoffs 2 years in the conversation and 1 year at the sun bowl. The reality would be 1 year a new years 6 playoff. 1 year in new year 6 non playoff 2 years in a run of the mill bowl
