Does anyone remember the post game when Zaire got inured? It showed Kelly telling MZ's family that Zaire's position will be waiting for him when he gets healthy. It is on video. What does this mean exactly when the QB position is up for grabs in the spring? Does Kelly honor his word or is it really an "open competition"? IMO, stupid to get caught on camera making these type of promises. Now, the family can tell Kelly he is a liar if they split reps and have MZ transfer out which would make it 4 QB's since he arrived. Not a good formula for recruiting.

His position is waiting for him, as is yours. If I'm a brick mason and I fall off a scaffold and el jefe tells me my job is waiting, that just tells me I'm still in the picture. I think I would understand that if I came back and couldn't produce to the necessary level, or others were more productive, I have a decision to make. Either get my degree and transfer as a grad, or transfer to a new crew.
It was emotional for him. He felt like a million dollars with Zaire coming from golson. Not just and injury but a leg snap. Gruesome. Season deflation. Sad sad Sad.

So true...I guess CBK should have told MZ "sucks to be you." What did you think he would say? He said what should have been said in a situation like this. In the end MZ will get the chance to prove himself but nothing will be given to him if it is not earned.
Huh? BW is 6-1. Plenty tall enough. EG was 5-8 maybe.
That's not a guarantee his position is waiting for him "meaning being on the team." You have to earn your position every year. This is high level D1 football. No coach a
of a program guarantees positions and neither does BK. You guarantee a chance to compete to be the starter.

You do realize Golson was listed at 6'0"....which he was NOT! Barefoot Golson is 5'10" tops.
Inflated numbers or deflation of numbers on the program has been around as long as psychological warfare among coaches and we've yet to even take a snap.
Always will be that way.

BW is NOT 6'0". Malik is close and probably has an inch on Golson but I have my doubts Malik is even a legit 6'0". . Kizer has real legit QB height. Kizer is no less than 6'3".
I already mentioned this a while ago. I think BK will or should have a talk with both of them first part of Spring, and let them know how important both of them are to the team, and that they have to know how injuries occur to this team so much so, that Wimbush needs to be ready every bit as much as the starting QB. And, while I said your job will be waiting, we still need everyone to work hard every single day, and the guy that our coaches feel will offer the best opportunity to beat Texas will be the one that goes onto the field the first game. That includes Brandon Wimbush.
Simply put I would say it this way.

The plan was to redshirt Wimbush last year behind Malik and Kizer... they had to burn it, but couldnt he simply sit out this year? it doesnt change anything with regards to the original plan for him and depending on how the spring and next year go it wouldnt be unheard of for the loser of Malik, Kizer to transfer at some point to showcase their skills and try to get drafted.
Everybody knows it but won't say it. MZ will be the starter. Kelly has his favorites regardless of who is better in the spring. Golson all over again.

Wimbush probably doesn't want to sit after getting playing time in 15. Unless there just isn't any meaningful playing time for him - let him play and keep recruiting more guys.
