Kelly criticizes Saban’s strategy of bringing in former players to run scout team duty.

Kelly says, "“I think it’s absolutely ludicrous,” Kelly said. “It doesn’t sound like college football to me.”

Ummm Saban is 9-0 and were 3-6. We have to win out to go to some car parts bowl in Mudwater Tennessee and Saban is on his way to another NC.

Don't get me wrong. I hate Saban and Alabama and everything they stand for. It's a football factory and they tout a high GSR (which amazingly has went from 50% to 80% in less than four years to stay off the NCAA hit list). But their most common majors are, Exercise and Sports Science, and Communications. They actually have accredited courses in "College Football"! That being said, Kelly should just keep his mouth when criticizing anyone! What's ludicrous is throwing the ball 35 times in a hurricane and blaming the loss on your center.

While Kelly isn't exactly in a position of strength, I would be inclined to agree with him about those tactics.

Two things: Author is clearly bitter about something, and was Kelly really criticizing Saban, or a stupid NCAA loophole that allows for this? Much ado about nothing.

Yes, I understand why Kelly doesn't like it. But as of right now it's not against the rules. Like I said, Saban is a scumbag, but Kelly needs to just worry about his own issues.

Actually the article I read didn't mention the players were pros, and they were involved in full contact practices with the team. So I do see now why Kelly was upset. But still, he's not in the position to say much. I think just declining to answer would have been better. Not to open yourself to even more ridicule.

What ever Saban may or may not be doing, has absolutely nothing to do with Kelly losing to a punch of very
poor teams !
Now in the very extreme unlikely event, Kelly ever turns our a really top 5 team, I will take his complaining
about other coaches seriously.

lol. Kelly sounded like a bumbling fool in that interview just before half time when Saban was humiliating him in 2012. I'm guessing Saban could not care less what a pissant like Kelly thinks about him.

Where does Kelly find the time to discuss Alabama football? The barn is not exactly clean.

Exactly Twalsh. Lot of other reasons to find fault with Kelly, but don't think this is one of them.

I'll be the first one to tell you that saban is a scumbag p.o.s, however bk needs to keep his trap shut and concentrate on his sorry a$$ pathetic coaching job he has mastered this year.

He was simply answering a question asked him about Saban's using former players on the practice squad. Is there a true ND fan that would want ND to adopt that practice? I certainly hope not anyways.

It sounded like he was commenting on the NCAA loophole and not Saban.

If your a player you only get 20 hours a week To practice. If your part of the unv, you are limited in the coaches that can have player contact.

This means that Any school can use folks off the street not part of the UNV or the School to practice and not get players banged up or burn up their 20 hours.

BK should find all these loop holes as well until the NCAA closes them. It's definaley about being a football factory and not about the kids but use them all. Hell, start going against the Colts with your first and second string. Gives you essentially 40 hours vs 20.

Nothing about Saban. Here is the transcript:

The NCAA has a rule where a former player could come back to his team and be part of the scout team. Have you looked at this rule?

“Yes, we did. We looked at it, but it just doesn’t fit with our philosophy of asking former Notre Dame grads to come back and put the pads on. That’s not what we are about.”

Do you like the rule?

“Absolutely not. No, I don’t. I didn’t do much time on it. I think you do whatever you think is right and whatever you think can give you an advantage and bringing that young man back sounds like a great deal. It doesn’t sound like college football to me.”

You guys need to get a life.

Seems like we are reporting like the media lately. BK never once commented on Saban. Just the rule.
