The same thing as Nebraska in 2000. An opposing team with a huge fanbase made their first trip ever to ND Stadium, and their fans arrived in droves and paid top dollar for tickets.

Coming off a 4-8, with Temple, Miami of OH, NC State, Wake Forest, and Navy making the bulk of a home game schedule.

There was a time when it seemed like you couldn't get single game tickets without being in the lottery, and you needed someone's entire family to die before you could get season tickets.

Highest ticket prices in the country the last few years, a terrible season last year, single game tickets becoming increasingly easily available for the second and third tier games, a terrible season last year, and a slate of home opponents heavy on the uninteresting side diminishes interest in the lottery and season tickets. Makes more tickets available to the brokers.

Not much excitement leading up to this season. We surrounded our stadium with a giant shopping mall, filled it with awesome wifi so people can post selfies, and and gave fans a giant Hi-Def TV so they catch the replay of the plays they missed screwing around on their phones.

We needed a regional advertising campaign to sell out for Temple. And we had 3000 fewer tickets to sell. The Georgia presence wasn't a surprise in the slightest. You reap what you sow.

Apparently it is special to a lot of people willing to pay top dollar to experience the event called ND football.
Rigth ,top dollar to see their Team beat ND. You've hade one good year with the guy with the imaginary girlfriend. It use to be ND wanted to stay independent, well independent and irrelevant.

A lot of Americans are very supportive of their president. When their president is under attack, anyone who joins in the attack becomes an enemy.

I worked in Indianapolis for a while and noticed people their are very patriotic and there is a lot of military in the area.

Not out of the question that ND could be suffering a little blowback from their commencement decision.

Beach...I just watched my DVR of your game. That was one hell of an impressive display of passing, receiving, and rushing. The change from game one to game two was amazing. And, despite the lopsided score, I thought Stanford looked pretty damn good in their own right. Would not be surprised to see an undefeated USC when they play ND, and a one loss Stanford when they play ND.

ND has tremendous cash value because it's a nostalgia brand. The school has been cashing in for years without actually upgrading the product. The fans are just cashing in too. Why not? It's not like their loyalty is going to be rewarded.

Yep.
But...
When your program proves it continually underachieved where is the motivation of the fan to give back with support? Until they feel they're getting good value for their support you will have this.

The Nebraska game had a similar feel. Upper ranked routinally program comes in and did most fans think oh we're so ready to make a statement to the world ND football is back? No.
BK doesn't take the world against us approach. Too arrogant. He thinks I truly believe that his program is a top five program all without actually proving it.

That arrogant energy from the coach without results has now fallen on deaf ear.

Man is my memory going. I thought ND played for the natty in 2013. Wouldn't that make them one of the best 10 teams in the last five years?

Well they did. They also got whipped. When was the last major bowl victory? When was the last odd defying win? That lone OU game in 12?
Ok I will concede that was one game I think we were underdogs. Maybe. I'm sure someone will chime in and scold me for not kissing the ring of almighty BK for that spectacular stop the presses win.

Let's look at how many times they've had an opportunity in games like that. Look no further than Saturday night. What happened? Predictable stale offense remains. Sitting players who should play and playing players who should sub. A quarterback who was pissing his pants. Yet the opponent had an equally inexperienced QB... That didn't even win the starting job in Georgia play with a million times more confidence.
And the show goes on.

I don't recall scolding you, it's just playing in the natty seemed to be inconsistent with your post. I guess it depends on what your definition of "years" is. I didn't research the game but wasn't UGA higher ranked? At east on the TV they had UGA at 15 and ND at 24. Not sure where they got that. You were favored in Vegas but schools like ND and SC are always over bet.

I not a Kelly fan at all. Don't know enough to know if he should stay there or not. But it seems to me that two good teams played and one lost by a point. Now if the BC game goes bad that's another story.

The thing that surprised me about the game was your O-line. I thought it among the best in CFB but your left tackle was beat like a drum and UGA had no problem with it.

I m not pretending to know about the big picture for ND. Your post just didn't make sense to me based on the natty. You lost but there are 65 or so power five teams that never got there. Sorry if you felt scolded.

Oh I wasn't speaking of you directly on the scolding...just that many on here apologize for BK around the clock and will point out the one lone day from a far away place and a far away land that the sun did shine on the dogs ass.

In other words if I had to say to be exact one time in the BK tenure that he's won a big game perhaps not favored in..it might be the OU game in twelve. Again I can't say for certain though because of the line back then I don't recall.

The point to all of it is his teams consistently underperform. It's just a quagmire to be honest. Every year it's just excuses and no results.

Know this...im not expecting undefeated year in and out.

I just want to see a coach get the most out of his team. We'd all be happy with a big win once in a while. If twelve was in fact a big win in Oklahoma....alright. That was light years and many big games ago with no wins.

When was the last big bowl victory? Forget about National title. Just that. A big bowl game win! Clinton was in his first term.

So sadly it's way over due and particularly from a school that claims to be a football school. At some point results have to support the propaganda, no?

My memory is going too. Didn't ND get curb stomped in that game ? I believe it was over by the 2nd quarter.

I don't have a huge problem with our performance the other night. We played a very talented team and the game came down to the wire. Their defensive end made a game-saving play that made the difference. It is what it is.

Some of last year's losses were a lot worse - to mediocre teams like Michigan State, Duke and NC State. This loss doesn't compare to those. The team battled and just lost to a better team. I think we'll have a winning season this year, if we keep playing like that.

Not to mention blowing significant leads in some of those losses, and a huge lead in last year's only notable win, Miami.

The networks did show one concerning stat, that ND is 1-7 in one possession games, or something like that.

We have now lost 8 of our last 9 games that were decided by one score (8 pts) or fewer. It's almost more torturous than losing games 38-0 under Willingham.

That's a bad stat
Thinking about it, Stanford was the last game of 2015, a loss by a FG on the last play, so that would make it 9 out of 10. If you are good enough team to be playing in a one score game, by happenstance you probably should win 4 out of 10, right? 1 out of 10 is beyond disturbing.

It kind of is don't you think. Under BK often we get teased with a win.
Under TW we were doomed coming off the bus....minus one Tallahassee road win against a lousy Seminole team only to fall on face the very next week against BC.

bk really has no big game wins. Like I said from the beginning 8 long years ago, this clown is a fricking fraud

I had a friend who had one season ticket. He lived in Boston and when he could not make to a game he would give the ticket to me or another friend. When he did come in for a game especially USC he had his ticket and we would go around trying to get more tux. When we could find them they would be $50 to $100. This was during the Gerry Faust years. I still say the fans that sold out should lose their tux.

Spot on. ND cashes in big time on the "storied program" The football program made ND. No need for the ND admin to change anything. The cash cow of ND football churns year in and year out regardless of how inept or mediocre the football team is on a yearly basis.

Not a good thing at all. As the Ga game got to the 4th QTR and we lead 13-10 and then 16-10. I had sinking feeling in my gut that it would be a matter of time where we'd play "Kelly Ball" and find a way to lose.

Thanks we'll find out which is the real team soon
