Great pickup for the Irish! Another PA lineman in the mold of Mike McGlinchey, but much further along in his development at the same point.

Not at all trying to be a Debbie-downer here in the wake of this good news, but if ND could recruit DL at even have the consistency that they've been recruiting OL, we'd be in great shape along the defensive front. There is no greater imbalance in the Irish program than the difference in quality being recruited on the OL vs the DL.

IIO, I agree with you. Though I've always been interested in looking at the statistics of highly rated OL recruits vs highly rated DL recruits. I feel like the OL 4 and 5* recruits have a higher percentage rate of success and draftability (made that word up) than the DL recruits. It seems like only a handful of the 4 and 5* DL really meet their potential and more lower ranked recruits end up being the ones to have success collegiately and then get drafted. I don't have the data to back my thinking up though. It would take a few hours of research probably to do that. Maybe on a lazy day I'll actually look into it to see if there is a pattern or if I'm going crazy. For now it's out to mow the lawn, weed whack, and seal a crack on our walkway.

Welcome Joshua. Too bad this news hit about the same time as Jone's injury news. Otherwise, more folks here would be celebrating this commitment. Another really good fit and another feather in Harry's recruiting hat!

IIO - before the injuries last yr the DL was out performing the OL . Held Stanford to 47 yds rushing last yr .

Day - Rochelle - Jones - Romeo - Hayes - Tillery - Trumbetti are certainly as impressive as our OL

When ND's OL performance on the field matches their recruiting rankings get back to me.....as ID 46 ND pointed out lower ranked kids can emerge along the DL and out perform many higher rated HS kids . It is about tenacity and playing with a healthy appetite for violence . This season will be eiither very good or great -- Bars - Stanley - Nelson - Martin - McGlinchey playing with a vicious tenacity will determine which it will be .

The dl pool of candidates is less than half that of the ol . Player Development is paramount so hope the new coach is good.
