Man I'd venture to say 10 of those tackles were for 8 yard gains. I was frustrated by his play but he got better in the second half but by that point the game was out of control. Thankful for him choosing ND and wish him the best, ready to see what else we have in 16.
Yeah you made my point even better than I did. Kid gave his all for ND and paid to go for a few years as well, nothing but respect for the kid so I don't want to be too critical. My frustration with BVG comes out on this topic, I'll be curious to see what happens next year when his crutch is gone I guess that will mean he will have to actually teach Nyles or Martini how to get everyone lined up.Yeah, I wouldn't use statistics to support a claim that a defensive player played well or bad. He made an interception..a deflection that went right to him that he almost dropped. 14 tackles in a game where the defense gave up 44 points and couldn't get off the field.
Doesn't really tell me anything good about him, and I'm not trying to say anything bad about him either. Just making the point that statistics don't mean a whole lot, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
What game did you watch....replay it and you will see Schmidt standing with NO ONE around him...looked lost !!!!!!!!! Bye bye Schmidt ,don't let the door .....................................Great player, better Notre Dame man.
Thisis why ND needs McCollough,Davis and Hayes. They have one ,now need 1 or 2 of the other.Brian 822 is right on. Great story, but ND won't win an NC with middle linebackers that have most of their 14 tackles in a big game 8 yards down the field. Time to move on to bigger, stronger, faster linebackers.
We're going to need him to court JT Daniels and help grease the Mater Dei pipeline......Nice game with 14 tackles, 1 tfl, and an interception.
Hope Tillery and Redfield feel good about letting down the rest of their teammates for being asshats.
