... for the Ravens. Didn't even know they had picked him up. He's facing his old nemesis, Pete Carroll, and the Seahawks. Not an easy assignment. 7-0 Seattle right now. Clausen's actually playing decently so far, 10/15 for 120 yds.
Not a good day for Jimmy. 23 of 40 and a pick and no TD's. Blown out 35-6.
Great reporting. You left out he had 274 yards passing playing with all third string players against the team that's been to back-to-back super bowls. Not a good day for Jimmy. 23 of 40 and a pick and no TD's. Blown out 35-6.
I was very wrong about JC in the NFL. He's not any good and most times he plays his team loses and its not even close. How wrong was I? I remember when Carolina drafted Cam and I was like "what are you doing? You have a QB, get something around him". Haha
some guys peak in college. that appears to be the case for both clausen and quinn. a back up gig is nice money. not gonna make that in the private sector.I remember arguing with another Irish fan on here. he was saying Clausen was going to be better than Big Ben of my Steelers. I told him he was crazy. I never thought he would be a good pro. Brady Quinn was a better ND qb than Clausen. and look what happened to him on the nfl level.
the nfl is a different animal. and is littered with the carcasses of college football factory players who were great while playing in college. but couldn't get better to compete with the big boys in the nfl.
empty stats. playing from behind all the time.Great reporting. You left out he had 274 yards passing playing with all third string players against the team that's been to back-to-back super bowls.
His highpoint came when he took the Limo to the CFB HOF to say he would win 4 NC's at ND. That and his swimsuit photo - he took a first round TKO in that bar fight.I remember arguing with another Irish fan on here. he was saying Clausen was going to be better than Big Ben of my Steelers. All the comments pro or con on Clausen: it really doesn't matter . Find it hard to believe that he will be on a NFL roster next year ,maybe a taxi squad. Watching NFL games this year ,notice many 2nd and 3rd team quarterbacks have been more productive than Clausen. In part you could blame the teams he has been with or the lack of good players, but he just doesn't make anything happen ( doesn't make plays) . Every year new QBs are coming into the league and not many are retiring .
I wonder if C. Weis ( with all of his promises and hype to Clausen) really prepared him for the pro game . Weis' (with Clausen ) last three years at ND were unproductive .
Hindsight .Clausen should have stayed for his 4th year.

To FightingIrish44 ,
Are you serious , the 2009 team with Coach Weis and Clausen was terrible ? Really ? Whose fault was that ?
Sergio Brown,Clausen ,Eifert,Fleming ,Floyd, Jonas Gray,Hughes,Lewis-Moore,Olsen,Ian Williams,Sam Young ,Riddick,Trevor Robinson,Rudolph ,Harrison Smith, Manti Te'o, Walls ,Blanton ,etc . All went on not only to play pro ball ,but a lot of them are starters and stars .
Oops, how could I forget Golden Tate on the 2009 team .Also the center in 2009 was Braxton Cave and isn't he playing for a pro team?
You said the team was terrible ? And what's that got to do with Clausen going pro .Well , Weis never had any kind of productive team in his last 3 years with all the talent he had in 2009 . If you watched some of those games in 2008 and 2009 ,Clausen threw some lollipops where Floyd , Rudolph and Tate had to out jump the smaller D-backs .
no production in the context of the offense. numbers are meaningless when they don't result in points. Not true. He had about half his yards at halftime, when the score was still reasonably close.
not sure. bounced around on some practice squads.Oops, how could I forget Golden Tate on the 2009 team .Also the center in 2009 was Braxton Cave and isn't he playing for a pro team?
good players but the team wasn't very good. see coaching staff. You said the team was terrible ? i guess that given the hype coming in clausen being a 2nd rounder is less than what was expected. You wondered if Weis prepared Clausen for the pro game and cited that the team was unproductive.
I'm basically saying that a guy can still be well-prepared even though he played on a bad team.
You then said Clausen should have stayed for his Senior year. I'm basically saying, "why?" He got drafted in the second round and made a bunch of money.
You're naming off all these players in the NFL that were under Weis, but they have nothing to do with the conversation about Clausen.
Weis wasn't a good college head coach at ND. Weis did a good enough job with Clausen to allow him to be a 2nd round pick. Both statements can be true. That's all.
