Jerian Grant has 10 points and 8 assists in a very impressive performance while leading the Knicks to a 76-66 win over the Lakers. Included in Grant's shots were a three and a great pump fake drive to the basket that left Jordan Clarkson, a good defender, totally flatfooted. Among his assists were two alley oops and a beautiful thread the needle bounce pass on the fast break.
Sadly, the Lakers two high draft picks looked woeful. DeAngelo Russell's line read 8 points, 1 assist, and 8 turnovers. Julius Randle seems to think he's Magic Johnson. While he has a nice first step and can actually handle the rock well for a power forward, he predictably had difficulty finishing a drive. What's alarming he repeatedly passed on an open jumper, something he'll have to work on going forward.
