I love Jeff. He is one of my all time favorite ND players, but holy cow has he been awful since the trade deadline. I know we had a long thread a couple of weeks ago debating whether or not he made a mistake in not taking the cubs 5 year 85 million dollar offer last year. Many posters most notably sjb75 have guaranteed that he will at least match that this off season.
I just finished watching Comcast Sports Net in Chicago after the White Sox game. Since the trade dead line, Jeff is 0-5 with an ERA of 9.00. They also stated that he has given up more hits and earned runs to date than any pitcher in baseball this year.
He had better have an unbelievable September or his August stats when combined with the fact that he will be 31 years old and has NEVER won more than 9 games in a season will make many teams leery of signing him to a big money contract.
I hope for Jeff's sake that sjb75's guarantee comes to fruition. However I will stand by my position in the old thread that he made a mistake in not taking the Cub offer.
